Anyone else found themselves in this dilemma?

Since I'm not allowed to comment on your blog without an account, I'll comment here:

You have to be extremely careful what you accept from Bostick. A great deal of the time (95%) the books are self-published and many of those suffer from exactly the issues you describe: no clear audience, not well written, not properly marketed, etc. From your description I can only assume you got a self-published book. There are good self-pub books out there but they are many more that are like what you got.
Anysia - good to know. I'll try to be more descriminating in the future!
I have gotten a couple of good ones from them. Keep checking out the emails and you will find something you like. You just have to be more discriminatory when accepting the book I think.
Yes, I have received a couple of books from them that I never did finish. Like most everyone here I am becoming very discriminating when replying to one of their e-mails. So far only one book met my standards. It has been awhile since I have answered one of their e-mails.
I've only received a few books from them but I've liked all of them thankfully. I don't accept every book they offer me. I only take the ones that I think will be a good fit for my site or that I'll really enjoy. So far so good.
I've received lots of book from them and I don't finish all of them. My review policy states that I only review what I finish and although I haven't done it recently, I used to include this statement in all my replies to them. Bostick and their authors never send emails back inquiring about the review and not reviewing some books never has an effect on if I get future offers.

Don't worry about it, don't finish it.

Hi Elizabeth...

Again, I want to clarify, that Bostick Communications is a messaging firm. They have NO relationship to the product you received, other than to handle a small part, but a time consuming part of the marketing process.

Did you get a return address with the book. That is the real client who merely used Bostick. You should contact the one who sent you the book and explain why you refuse to review the book.

Bostick could care less...But if you do this too often and Bostick starts getting feedback from their clients, they may require/request that you no longer be contacted for reviews.

I'd have to know more about the reason why you don't want to review to help further.

Best,

Glenda
