Kristin Lavransdatter Readalong!

This is some of the description of the book selection off of Emily's blog:

Starting in October and continuing through December, we'll be tackling the three volumes of Sigrid Undset's classic Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy, one volume per month.

Set in medieval Norway, its three volumes track young Kristin from early childhood through marriage and into old age. In the process, Undset portrays a Scandinavia in the process of transition from old belief systems to Christianity, and populates it (so I hear) with a host of interesting, complex characters. The books are often called "modernist" (they were originally published in 1920-1922)

Undset won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928, and Kristin is her best-known work.

Those who want to join will all post their reviews of each section around the end of the month, and we can compare notes. The casual schedule is as follows, with pagination from my omnibus edition, pictured above:

* October: The Wreath (pages 1-291)

* November: The Wife (pages 295-697)

* December: The Cross (pages 703-1124)

This is what Richard said to explain the reasoning behind this super-cool event:
he main reason Emily and I wanted to propose another shared read was the great group of friends we met through the Bolaño readalong: friendly, insightful readers who made the readalong experience so much richer than it would have been otherwise. Plus, we thought that Claire and Steph deserved a break after all their organizational toils. Thankfully many of those same enthusiastic bloggers are continuing on with us here, and you--regardless of whether you maintain a blog or not, regardless of how casual your interest in literature is--are welcome to join in on the fun. I hope some of you will consider participating!

I have a goal of obtaining 200 reviews in 2 weeks in preparation for my pitch to a few big wig publishers! YIKES! I believe that we can do it! If you help me reach my goal, I'll give away a KINDLE from Best buy! If we fall short of 200, I'll still giveaway a $50.00 giftcard (to your choice Best buy or Amazon) The winner can also elect to get the gift card instead of the KINDLE (in case you already have one).
