'Faeries, Farms and Folk' is the final instalment in a trilogy of books set in Scotland.  The books are based on real people, places and events and follow the McMurdo family.  In 'Faeries, Farms and Folk' (the last book written, but chronologically the first) the family are farmers on common land in the 1600s in south-west of Scotland and are deeply superstitious.  They are forced off their land because of The Enclosures as landowners find more productive ways to make money.  Eventually they are forced into towns as the industrial revolution takes hold.  In 'Ours, Yours and Mines' the family is living in a two-roomed cottage in a miners' row as all the men in the family work underground.  Tuberculosis is rife and several of the children die.  The final book 'Far Across The Sea' is set from 1913 to the present and sees the family through two world wars and the Great Depression before leading to a life in sunny Australia.
