I'm a Seattle mom who just can't stop writing. I never thought I'd be a writer, but I couldn't help it. Most of my stories come from an abstract idea I am pondering. It helps me to add aliens or vampires or other fantastic elements to the "petri dish" with my idea so that I can examine it in a controlled environment, And voila! I have a Science Fiction or Fantasy story. Finishing and making a book out of that story is the hard part.
My subconscious is my other source for stories. My dreams are vivid and I get a few ideas or scenes per week from my dreams. I've been trying to figure out why my subconscious is so much better at everything than my conscious mind.
When writing this book I was focusing on the problem of the disparity of the way we imagine the world to be as children, and the following excruciating revalation of what it actually is. And I added some aliens.
