Permalink Reply by Valerie Douglas on March 21, 2011 at 12:37pm I've got a couple of them here, if you want to go see them. I agree about too many words on a slide. I used to do PowerPoint presentations for business and that was always a nasty no no. As PowerPoint instructors will tell you, show, not tell. The point of a trailer is to be visual, to entice, it's the book that should be read.
I know a couple of publishers that appear to offer them as part of the promotions, and I've seen them used at conventions pretty effectively. Some of the ones I've seen I liked, but there was one today where I just went... huh...
So I'm wondering...

Permalink Reply by Viviane Brentanos on March 21, 2011 at 12:18pm I keep hearing they are a must but, personally, I am not a great fan of them. First off, especially in the romance genre, the images are all so similar.I did make one for my Single Dreamweek with Wondows movie maker and I admit it wa sa lot of fun. Did it aid my sales? I don't think so.

:)

Permalink Reply by Valerie Douglas on March 21, 2011 at 3:30pm I imagine... I wish I could do the artwork, it's difficult to find multiple images of the same character.
Here's the link to one of mine... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y1TMnshxtU
Permalink Reply by Valerie Douglas on March 21, 2011 at 5:11pm Yup... either that or sought permission from the artists to use the images. Not all will, and bought legal copies of them so that the artists would make actual money from the deal. I also gave them credit at the end.
That's why it was so difficult... finding an artist who had several similar images was almost impossible.
