How do you feel about them? I've been requested to view some and I've made some myself, BUT.... The questions is, do they have value. How many of you have watched them? What do you think of the ones you've seen (not just mine...)

I read a post the other day written by an agent that said that they're a must. I haven't seen any of yours, but a lot of them break the cardinal rule concerning any kind of presentation:  too many words on each slide/screenshot. Other than that, some of them seem very well put together.  But as soon as I see all those words, I click away.  It's like every time I have to sit through class presentations from my students who haven't followed the powerpoint directions.  Too many words bore an audience. Ironic, isn't it? :)

I've got a couple of them here, if you want to go see them. I agree about too many words on a slide. I used to do PowerPoint presentations for business and that was always a nasty no no. As PowerPoint instructors will tell you, show, not tell. The point of a trailer is to be visual, to entice, it's the book that should be read.

I know a couple of publishers that appear to offer them as part of the promotions, and I've seen them used at conventions pretty effectively. Some of the ones I've seen I liked, but there was one today where I just went... huh...

So I'm wondering...

A publisher that helps with promo? Lol. Do share.

Ooops, actually on that I may have misspoken... I believe that they encourage their writers to have them made and by specific companies... Not that they actively create them themselves.

I keep hearing they are a must but, personally, I am not a great fan of them. First off, especially in the romance genre, the images are all so similar.I did make one for my Single Dreamweek with Wondows movie maker and I admit it wa sa lot of fun. Did it aid my sales? I don't think so.

I know what you mean about it being fun.  I had a blast putting mine together for my first book.  But will it help sales?  I don't know.

:)

The artwork is great, and the music is good too...

I imagine... I wish I could do the artwork, it's difficult to find multiple images of the same character.

Here's the link to one of mine... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y1TMnshxtU

Yup... either that or sought permission from the artists to use the images. Not all will, and bought legal copies of them so that the artists would make actual money from the deal. I also gave them credit at the end.

That's why it was so difficult... finding an artist who had several similar images was almost impossible.
