Hello everyone... I just posted my review of "The Man Who Loved Books Too Much", by Allison Hoover Bartlett. This was an early release I acquired from Library Thing. My review is posted there in addition to my site. Please stop by and let me know what you think! www.nybookcafe.com

I'm on LibraryThing as TheCrowdedLeaf. Having some trouble with my profile because I changed my username, but clicking on the link above should take you there.

Sarah,
I watched your book trailer, and I have to admit it's the first book trailer I've watched (so I may not be much help at all!). I'm just catching on to the whole idea, in fact. (yes, newbie alert, did you catch that?)

As trailers go, it was effective and well done, I thought. Although that genre of book is not what I usually read, it did make me interested in the story. I thought the trailer was nicely done, as I said. But I'm not sure what else I can say. I don't have the experience or the knowledge to say what makes a good or a bad one. But I thought I'd put in my two cents!

Hi Thingamabrarians,
I'm hoping to get the opinions of bloggers and librarians on book trailers - the one linked here as well as trailers in general. Are they effective? What makes a good one? A bad one? Please watch this mercifully brief book trailer for "The Ice Chorus", just out in paperback from Alma Books of London
(sorry you may have to copy/paste this into your browser)

I'm hoping to write an article on book trailers once I compile your various responses. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Sarah Stonich

More about my novels and samples of new work can be found at sarahstonich.com Review copies of The Ice Chorus are available to bloggers with decent traffic to their sites.

I think your first suggestion is good. I'll do that. I am keeping more specialized track of mysteries that are British, Scandinavian and Japanese because those are my particular favorites and I'm building my collection and want to keep track of those especially. The others all have tags under the heading of "general mystery."

Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it!

Nancy....why can't it be both. A book can be listed in more than one collection. So if you have a Latin American Fiction collection, and a British mystery collection, it can belong to both. I question though if you'd not be better off having more generic collections: Fiction and Mystery. Are you going to have separate collections for American Mysteries, Italian Mysteries, Asiatic mysteries, etc? Wouldn't tags work just as well?

I have a question for anyone in the group. I have been trying to organize my books into collections (yay) and I'm stuck on one. I have a book called The Oxford Murders written by Guillermo Martinez. So I have what amounts to be a British mystery but by a Latin American author. I haven't read it yet. So...is it Latin American fiction or is it a British mystery? Any opinions are welcome
