Barbara's vivid and dramatic stories, told with a wicked sense of humor, will make you laugh out loud. She definitely gets what living with rescued dogs (nine of them!) is all about. This book will inspire you with the couple's unstinting love, devotion, and respect for dogs as family members. You'll be glad to include it in your treasured collection of great dog books.

When Barbara meets her future husband, Ray, it is love-and dog-at first sight. Over the course of thirty-two years, seventeen relocations and nine dogs, their mutual love of dogs guides them on their unconventional path. The love that Barbara and Ray get in return is literally lifesaving, with one dog attacking a lethal intruder and another discovering Barbara’s cancer. Her own survival story underscores the story of how her dogs become survivors themselves.

Each new dog adds its own dynamic to the family, sometimes upending it. From Turbo (whose Spock-like ears may have provided super powers), Barbara learns about the will to live; Lexington demonstrates incredible patience and an inexplicable love of golf; Madison teaches that laughter is truly the best medicine and that the whole “nine lives thing” is not reserved just for cats; Morgan should be sainted for tolerating Izzy, who is as cute as she is bad. Barbara is certain that somewhere in doggie heaven there is a poster that says “If you are sick, injured or in need of really expensive medical care, FIND THESE HUMANS!”

Andy Gavin's Untimed is an adventure you won't want to put down.  Charlie does not know he can time travel until he tumbles through a hole one afternoon after almost being killed.  Way to grab your attention from the get go . What a way for Charlie to discover who he is.   It isn't very long before he meets a girl Yvaine who is also a time traveler and been at it a lot longer than Charlie.

Now imagine two kids in new places discovering who they are  and they have the ability to change history if they mess something up. Ugh Oh. Not the most ideal situation there right.  If they screw things up totally (which they manage to do more than once) will they be able to go back and fix things?   Charlie just wants to find his Dad he knows he will have some answers for him and help him sort this mess out.  Yvaine just wants to protect her son Billy.  Together they just want to find a way to fix what has gone wrong and be together.  From past to the future and back again these to time travel to find the answers they are searching for and sometimes to save their very skins.
Untimed is filled with black and white illustrations through out the book which really add to the thrill of the read.  I love how you see Charlie growing into a man right before your eyes as he finds a real relationship with Yvaine his Miss.  And Yvaine well she's full of sass which makes her a delightful character .
Together they manage to change history, try to save history and make some history.  Andy Gavin has done a great job weaving real history and fiction into a fun thrilling adventure .   Untimed is the first in a young adult series.   Can't wait to see what happens with Charlie and Yvaine next!!  I have both a 14 and 16 year old and would let either one read it .
