About Me:
I love to Write and I love to read.... It's in my blood and always has been!!! I have an awesome husband and 2 wonderful sons. I got my first book published in November called "Becoming Mommy... Becoming Me". The book is true accounts from women about their exprience in motherhood. Mine is the last. Some stories are sad and some are uplifting.
Being a mom and writing are two of my favorite things and having the oppertunity to combine the two was an awesome experience!!!!

Another excerpt from my book, from a different mother's story!!!

....."minutes later a nurse that looked like she was about 100 years old brought in an ultrasound machine. She put the jelly on my stomach and started to feel around my belly. After about a minute and a half of searching, she looked at me and sadly said, “The baby’s heart’s not beating.” I don’t think her words registered in my head right away. It felt unreal, like I was watching a movie or something. Two seconds later Rudy walked into the room and I had never been so happy to see him in my… Continue

Excerpt from my book "Becoming Mommmy... Becoming Me"

..."After a couple of days the reality of my situation settled in. I realized that Luke was serious and that all those times he had told me he loved me must have been a lie. All I could do was cry and think about him and what he was doing. I would try to call Luke and he would screen his calls; when he did pick up he called me a bitch and a whore and told me I was white trash for having a baby out of wedlock. One time he didn’t pick up, a girl did. I could feel the physical pain in my heart. I… Continue

Becoming Mommy...Becoming Me (pageturner)

This is my first book that I have written and I am extremely proud of it!!! My book is not only about mothers but also about raw real emotions that we as humans experience in relationships and love. For my book I interviewed real women about their experiences and did not change anything except names for their protection. These stories are not fairy tales and so there is no Hollywood ending. What I included was the real deal. There are 14 stories...the last is my own. I wrote this book because I… Continue

Happy New Year!

Please help me celebrate the 10th anniversary of my debut novel!

"Bernice L. McFadden's first novel begins with the brief, poetic description of a crime so startling that the reader is helplessly drawn in, as if a bright red door stood ajar on a bleak and forbidding house. Pearl Taylor's daughter, Jude, has been found murdered and mutilated near a field at the edge of town. "The murder had white man written all over it," writes McFadden. "But no one would say it above a whisper. It was 1940. It was Bigelow, Arkansas. It was a black child. Need any more be said?" In the years that follow, Pearl catches sight of Jude in so many strangers that when Sugar Lacey comes to town and sets up her unwholesome "business" in the house next door, she doesn't know whether to believe what she sees in Sugar's face: a striking similarity to Jude, dead 15 years. In her sedate but supple prose--rising at times to a light, unforced lyricism in the description of landscape or character--the author perfectly renders the closed and protective society of a small Southern town, the superstitions, gossip, and prying."

In order to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Sugar I am campaigning to sell 10,000 copies by Jan 9th, 2010.

Please purchase a copy for yourself or a friend. And yes, Kindle purchases count! And please spread the word!!!!

Peace & Blessings!
