Recently self-published. Anyone have any tips on how and where to get reviews when you are self-published? (I'm in Phoenix.)

Hey! I noticed you were a member of the group Follow Mine, I'll Follow Yours.
I was hoping we could do a follow swap.I follow your blog and you follow mine.
If you would like to do this, comment on my page and leave your blog link there.
Here's mine: http://thekookybookworm.blogspot.com/
Patricia Maxey said… Thank-you for your friendship. I will have to begin writing more of my blogs. Yours are very interesting.
I have just completed my new autobiography, and I would like for the world to be able to check it out. I believe that it would change people's lives just by the sharing of these events, and my ultimate survival. For many years I sat alone and thought that my life was just a mistake or an unfortunate accident due to my circumstances, but then I heard the awesome voice of God in my heart and I decided to share it with the world. It would be an honor to have a person like you share in the experience. I give all of my thanks and glory to God for bringing me through such a trial, but as I said there is a reason for all of our tribulations on this earth, to be able to strengthen one another with our experiences and triumphs. The link to my book entitled "Born In Betrayal" is https://www.createspace.com/3694258 . Feel free to comment or share the link with your friends and family if you like. My ultimate dream is to be able to have my book put to film. Pray for me:) Yours, Patricia Maxey "The Germantown Angel" God Bless!
Elizabeth Marx said… Andrew,
I saw some of your comments and was fasinated by the fact that you've sold 6000 copies of your title on Amazon. I am also a self-published author and if we were in a race, I'd think someone tied me to the starting gate and you've crossed the finish line. I think you're off to a brillant start. I checked out your book, I'm a big historical fiction fan and will put it on my to read list. Love the cover and all those five star reviews!
Best of luck and success to you. If you'd like to share horror stories about time management: to write, to read, to review, to watch your spreadsheets spawn baby spreadsheets just to keep up with blogging, social media, etc., let me know.
You can check me out at: http://www.amazon.com/author/elizabethmarxbooks or my website: http://www.elizabethmarxbooks

R. L. Prendergast said… The truest form of flattery is having ones ideas stolen. Therefore, I'm good with copying my website. As for editorial reviews I got pretty much nothing. Some play from the newspapers in the town I grew up in and a few notices from newspapers in the town I live in, but mostly I sold books because of word of mouth. I did lots of book signings and the people who liked the book told two friends and they told two friends... Basically just hard slogging. I came at it like a business and built my following one reader at a time. Sorry. If there's a magic formula, I don't have it!
Jill Elizabeth said… Thanks for understanding Andrew - definitely let me know when the next one is out!! :)
Jill Elizabeth said… Thanks so much for the message back and the invitation to review your book. While it sounds right up my alley, I'm afraid I'm not accepting new review books at the moment... I just got married a month ago and my new husband and I (and 2 step-kids) are in the process of buying a new house/moving and selling our two old houses - while also trying to finish writing my own book(s) in progress. Things are insane around here as a result, and I'm simply not able to take on any new review books right now - I'm still trying to fulfill obligations from the summer that have backlogged (I do all my own reviews).
Again, so sorry I can't do a review now - best of luck to you with the book though, it sounds very interesting and I'm sure you'll have a lot of success with it!
Take care -
jill
Jill Elizabeth said… Hello and Welcome! I'm kind of new myself - still figuring things out, but so far it seems like everyone is pretty friendly and willing to help/give suggestions if you get stuck, which is a very good thing since this place can be kind of overwhelming! If there's anything I can help with let me know...
And if you have a second, please stop by my blog - www.Jill-Elizabeth.com - I'm always happy to get comments and/or new followers! I also have a giveaway going on:
- you can win a copy of The Christmas Village by Melissa Ann Goodwin, a lovely escapist story of a troubled young boy. Check it out through 12/2 at http://blog.jill-elizabeth.com/2011/11/18/guest-post-heroes-and-villains-2-faces-of-the-same-coin-by-melissa-goodwin-and-a-giveaway/
Again, welcome and good luck here!
