Dear Book Lover:

You may not know me or my work, but I am the national bestselling, award winning novelist of six critically acclaimed novels who has been twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction

On Jan 9th, 2010 my debut novel, SUGAR will celebrate its 10th anniversary and in order to commemorate this milestone I am campaigning to sell 10,000 copies between now and that date.

“Bernice L. McFadden's first novel begins with the brief, poetic description of a crime so startling that the reader is helplessly drawn in, as if a bright red door stood ajar on a bleak and forbidding house. Pearl Taylor's daughter, Jude, has been found murdered and mutilated near a field at the edge of town. "The murder had white man written all over it," writes McFadden. "But no one would say it above a whisper. It was 1940. It was Bigelow, Arkansas. It was a black child. Need any more be said?" In the years that follow, Pearl catches sight of Jude in so many strangers that when Sugar Lacey comes to town and sets up her unwholesome "business" in the house next door, she doesn't know whether to believe what she sees in Sugar's face: a striking similarity to Jude, dead 15 years. In her sedate but supple prose--rising at times to a light, unforced lyricism in the description of landscape or character--the author perfectly renders the closed and protective society of a small Southern town, the superstitions, gossip, and prying.”

I’m asking that you purchase a copy of SUGAR for yourself, a friend or family member. And yes, KINDLE purchases count.

If you could help spread the word by blogging, twittering ad Face-booking my campaign, it would mean the world to me.

Peace & Light,

Bernice L. McFadden

Hi Anthony,
I'd be honored if you'd check out my work at My website - click here
You can download my ebooks for free there. If you'd choose to write a review, I'd be totally jazzed. These are all Christian novels.
God bless!!

Hi Anthony, thanks for the invitation to join your blog. Currently, I write for several Central Florida magazines. I receive the most satisfaction from writing about social ills: homelessness, human trafficking, etc. My background is non-profit and so far writing has been a way to fill the gap between motherhood and full-time employment once again. Writing is a spiritual journey for me but I have never attempted a religious or spiritual article. Still, God seems to find the right people for me to interview and write about: Immaculee Ilibagiza, Laura Turner Seydel, volunteers and philanthropists who are contributing to positive change. I'm learning as I go.

Anthony,
"The Isbane's Conspiracy" by Randy Alcorn is a great book for counseling. I was swept away by the compelling way the adult family members felt they could "be their child's best friend" as they (the children/students) attended school and dealt with the peer pressures and tragedies in thei life. Having already raised a child and having her succesfully graduate high school, I could see the error in their thinking. Children need a solid foundation they can count on to be in their life whenever the peer pressures and turmoil at school becomes too crazy and unreal. This book was fascinating just for the inspirational content however, when it came to the final chapter and how the author dealt with the death of the main character, I was spiritually moved to read Randy's take on "Heaven" or how it coincides with what most of us think about Heaven. I believe you will enjoy the read. By the way! This book (I believe) lead into his book "{Heaven".
Blessings,
Pastor Tom

Happy to talk to you. It is always good to do anything that will improve your craft. I don't care if you're multi-published, honing your skills is imperative, that way you don't get stale, as some famous authors have gotten. This writing business is a love, isn't it?
