Would you read it if the average review score is lower than ...?

That depends on the variance. If most reviewers scored it at 3 or less, then, no I would not bother. But, if some scored it as high as 5, while the rest scored it as low as 1, yielding an average of…Continue

Should you read the book before seeing the movie?

Yes. In my experience 80% of the time, the book had better depth then a 100 minutes movie. For the other 20%, the book enhanced my movie experience

72 Virgins--Fiction or Facts-Based Story?

The idea was born years ago when I was still working as a VP at a hi-tech company. I wanted to write a non-fiction facts-based book on Islamic Terror. I realized that the American culture was growing exceedingly politically correct. America was not playing by the same rules as its Islamic enemies. The Geneva Convention guidelines were no longer applicable when fighting international Islamic terror organizations. Laws had to be amended. And I was about to facilitate that change. Or so I…See More

That depends on the variance. If most reviewers scored it at 3 or less, then, no I would not bother. But, if some scored it as high as 5, while the rest scored it as low as 1, yielding an average of about 3, then I would scrutinize the reviews and try to understand the reasons for the wide opinion range before making up my mind. If the story is politically motivated, chances are that those on the opposite side of the political question hated it, while others loved it. If the story paints a…See More

Should you read the book before you see the movie?

YES! It has been my experience. 90% of the time the book provided a better experience than the movie. For the other 10%, reading the book beforehand, enhanced the movie experience.

When a Thriller Comes with a Point of View

It’s risky.

While some readers may love every aspect of your story and praise it, some of your critics may disapprove. They may hold opposing political views, and thus, may not appreciate the way you depict your good guy, whom they like to perceive as the one with the timeless, evil soul. When your bad guy is the president of Iran and your reader is the Ayatollah he will find faults with every aspect of your story starting with the characters, whom he will define as stereotypes or… Continue

Behind the Writing of 72 Virgins

People keep asking. “What drove you to write 72 Virgins?” Why—after a long career as a professor in the academia, followed by a hi-tech stint as a technology chief—suddenly an author—a fiction writer. What happened?

My latest novel, 72 Virgins, carries a message, a prediction. Islamic terror is about to explode in the US. It’s a fact. Imagine. Attacks were thwarted even on the day the book was released. The real question is not whether Jihad terrorists’ plots will ever cease to… Continue

hi Avi, i was wondering if the title of your book 72virgins comes from the tales that young muslim boys are brainwashed into believing that they would have the company of 72 virgins after they die if they die for the cause of Islam. I heard about it on Tv once so I'm just curious :). If I can find a copy of your book I will buy it. Have a nice day
