BOOK CHICK CITY
Well, I am a Brit chick totally obsessed with books. I love reading them, buying them and collecting them. Book Chick City is my outlet for my unhealthy book addiction. But I do have a life outside of books *gasp* I love to go to the gym, run, play golf, hike in the mountains in the Lake District and generally have a good time with my best friend - yes, that's you hubby bubby! As well as reading lots of books I also love to watch movies. Mainly horror and big blockbuster disaster flicks but I'm also a sucker for a good rom-com as well. DVD's are also a bit of an obsession with my collection standing at around 1500 at present.
What books do I like to read? Basically I *love*
speculative fiction - from pure horror to urban fantasy, from science fiction to post-apocalyptic. My tastes are pretty eclectic though, so you may also find the odd crime/triller novel, women's contemporary fiction or an old classic popping up now and again. But mainly my blog is dedicated to Speculative Fiction - it's my first love. I don't read non-fiction, although once I was seduced by a picture of a cute yellow labrador on the front cover!
I realise that my blog design, with my gorgeous pink haired brit chick, can be perceived as a bit girlie, but who say's a chick can't love a bit of blood and gore? I like my books with an edge, a heroine who kicks some serious butt and lots of thrills. I can't help it, I just love scaring myself silly!

You may not know me or my work, but I am the national bestselling, award winning novelist of six critically acclaimed novels who has been twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction
On Jan 9th, 2010 my debut novel, SUGAR will celebrate its 10th anniversary and in order to commemorate this milestone I am campaigning to sell 10,000 copies between now and that date.
“Bernice L. McFadden's first novel begins with the brief, poetic description of a crime so startling that the reader is helplessly drawn in, as if a bright red door stood ajar on a bleak and forbidding house. Pearl Taylor's daughter, Jude, has been found murdered and mutilated near a field at the edge of town. "The murder had white man written all over it," writes McFadden. "But no one would say it above a whisper. It was 1940. It was Bigelow, Arkansas. It was a black child. Need any more be said?" In the years that follow, Pearl catches sight of Jude in so many strangers that when Sugar Lacey comes to town and sets up her unwholesome "business" in the house next door, she doesn't know whether to believe what she sees in Sugar's face: a striking similarity to Jude, dead 15 years. In her sedate but supple prose--rising at times to a light, unforced lyricism in the description of landscape or character--the author perfectly renders the closed and protective society of a small Southern town, the superstitions, gossip, and prying.”
I’m asking that you purchase a copy of SUGAR for yourself, a friend or family member. And yes, KINDLE purchases count.
If you could help spread the word by blogging, twittering ad Face-booking my campaign, it would mean the world to me.
Peace & Light,
Bernice L. McFadden

I've tried putting in with my google account, anonymous, etc, but it is all the same. it shows the letter i should put in for the word verification but no place to put them in....
you can go into settings and make it so there is no word verification needed. Maybe that's why others haven't commented? I'll keep trying though! I'm seeing if there is something on my end!
I've been trying to leave comments on your book blog, but the word verification is cut off so I can't...
I'd love to leave a comment!
