Hi Christy,
Your book arrived safe and sound. It has a beautiful cover. From what I've read so far - I'll be glad to recommend it. I have used Lulu in the past and have been thinking about CreateSpace. You might have convinced me .
Take care and I'll let you know when I post a review.

Sheesh. I feel dumb. You wrote a book on how to self publish. I will mention your book in my column.

Here are my three favorite reviewers - none of which appear to be on your list.

target="_blank">Geri's Book Reviews

Geri charges $35 per review. Advertises very nicely and a great lady.

Apex Reviews
Apex is running a special right now - for $79 you get review, book trailer, author interview, and blogtalk radio interview .

AllBook Reviews
They charge $50 per review. They got one of my reviews on Midwest Book Reviews.

Hi again,
I just read some notes you wrote on the POD people page. That drew my attention to your crusade to help self publishers. I also am fighting that fight. I am the new columnist for the Self Publishing column at Christian Fiction Online Magazine. I'll be looking for the kind of material you have gathered. Perhaps you can recommend some books on self publishing (I have Dan Poynters) that I can share with my readers (with a tip of the hat to you).
I have found some good review sites. I'll make sure you have them on your list. If not, I'll drop their name to you so you can add them.
Take care and I look forward to working with your to help Self pubbers get some respect.
Don .

Christy,

I would love to be added to your reviewers list for reviewers accepting books by self-published books. I am always accepting review books, and even unsolicited if the author/publisher has sent to me in the past. My review blog is Falling Off The Shelf. I just ask to be contacted via email or through my Review Request Form that can be located on the upper right hand side of my blog.

Thank you so much for putting this together, it's a great list so far and I see a lot of blogs on their that I personally love to visit on a regular basis.

Hey Christy,

Thanks for the heads up. I actually never considered myself a professional reviewer. I really just read and write for fun. I do hope my reviews are beneficial though.

Hey Christy that sounds awesome. As you noted, I am completely new to this. My favourite genres are fantasy and science fiction but I read pretty much most fiction. The only books I don't read are non fiction unless it's about a topic I really enjoy.

Oh I know. We hate it too, and it doesn't seem ethical at all considering Mainstream Authors don't pay for reviews. But there are a few of us out there. I managed to find some wonderful reviewers to look at my work over the years, as I am an Indie writer myself. I can sympathize. LL Book Review, Podbram, and even Mrsgiggles.com review Indie books and don't charge, though Mrsgiggles prefers to buy her own review books: she doesn't take submissions at the moment for Indie titles. Then there is The Self Publishing Review, they only charge if you want your book to jump to the head of the queue. A lot of free review sites don't make it past a year or so. It's hard work for what seems like no reward, but I have met a lot of wonderful writers, and if my review helps, that's good enough for me. I make a few friends along the way too.

Thanks Christy. Emily Veinglory, the owner of the Podpeople blog, Chris Gerrib, and Myself are against paid reviews and advertising revenue of any kind on the blog. Emily started it as a community service for indie authors, she herself being an e-book published author with Samhain. Paid reviews and advertising wouldn't fit with our site or our mission statement. Mainstream authors don't pay for reviews, why should Indie authors? I also generally tend to feel less obligated, and it eliminates any misconceptions that an author is paying for my opinion. We all just feel better about the process this way. No one can question the objectivity of our reviews, and we like it that way. Plus, Indie authors have enough to worry about with marketing and such, they don't need to squander their money away on review copies or reviews. We accept PDFs, HTML, and print copies. Print copies we in-turn giveaway during our monthly contest.
