A creative, detailed, and surprising story. I haven't read vampire stories since I read a few by Anne Rice, but this one was really very interesting, and I'm glad I took a chance.
Vampires are a bloody sort, literally. I don't like to read about the blood, the killing for it or any of that…

Pestilence, famine, war, oh my. Creativity, shock, and a questioning what, all rolled into one story.
To say this was a surprise read from her other series, would be an understatement. I have to admit, at first I couldn't wrap my head around it as I first felt shock for the, shall I say…

Surprise is probably a mild way to put it. Shock would have most assuredly fit the emotional reaction perceived, but of course as a title and what happened, surprise works much better.
Short stories are just that. You won't find a lot of fluff or character building; there just isn't any room…

Hi, Colleen, I never published my book after some negative beta-reader comments. It's in a rewrite with a much better critique group to help me develop the story structure the right way. Thanks for the review offer. I very much appreciate it. Since I write between professional editing jobs, it may be a while before I'm really ready.

Thank you so much Colleen for giving me the opportunity to read and review your book 'Fawn Finds Christmas'. I absolutely loved it, and I know others will as well. And thank you for sending me two books so that I can offer my readers a giveaway of this sweet and awesome Christmas story for the whole family, they are not going to want to miss out on this wonderful giveaway. Thank you so much Colleen!
God bless,
Jody

Hi Colleen and welcome to book blogs. I am a fairly new member as well, but have found the community to be very warm and welcoming. Everyone seems willing to help each other.
I started a new group called Philanthropy 101 - It is a group for bloggers, authors, readers, and reviewers who contribute to charity or who are giving back in some way to make our communities better. If you are making a difference or have ideas that can help others make a difference, please stop by and share. Since the group is just getting started, we could use all the help we can get. http://bookblogs.ning.com/group/philanthropy-101
I just released my debut novel, Atomic Summer - THREE friends, TWO secrets, ONE lie, and the summer that changed their lives. While the book doesn’t deal with cancer issues, I am donating 100% of my royalties to cancer causes. I didn’t write the book to make money, I wrote it to ‘be read’. So I am giving back to make a difference.
Please let me know if I can help you navigate around here and if you would like to connect on facebook (www.facebook.com/ElaineDWalsh ) or twitter (https://twitter.com/ElaineDWalsh) I would be happy to do so. If addition, if you know anyone who likes YA, women’s fiction, or historical fiction, could you pass my book along. www.elainedwalsh.com/atomic-summer
