Dave, I'll tell you honestly--I think people work up a welcome and paste it to as many people as possible. I hold to one principle. I READ and then try to honor the person with showing that I appreciate something they bring to the table. When possible, I make specific connections--genres, intention, technique, questions, hobbies, interests. You know.

I'm sure a large number of members are truly sincere and it's just sooooooooo hard to communicate with everyone personally. It takes time and when you're trying to write your blog and network, it's tempting to boilerplate, yes? It's an amazing community and worth the effort to find people of similar tastes/intentions/aspirations. I prefer one on one communique but some people really like the discussion boards. There are many options and it can be overwhelming.

Welcome to BB! I hope you're enjoying it here. It's a crazy but amazing place. How far are you with your MA? Do you have a favorite class yet? I know they're all good ;) but I always think it's interesting which classes thrill us the most.
