If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which would it be?

If you only had access to one book (let's say your access to religious texts is unlimited, but you can only pick one literary work of art for entertainment) for the rest of your life, which would it…Continue

Will our children's generations enjoy reading as much as we do?

As a writer and avid reader, I can't help but be concerned that the growing electronic media available for entertainment worries me when it comes to my kids.  Obviously I don't want them inundated…Continue

I recently announced the future release of my first published book.  Having worked in the publishing industry in the past and currently working as a copywriter, I am no stranger to having my writing scrutinized, analyzed and criticized - appreciated, too!  Taking into account the fact that strange things happen between people, even those close to you, when you share a success that includes some sort of public acknowledgment, I knew I should expect a number of different reactions from those…See More

Will our children's generations enjoy reading as much as we do?

As a writer and avid reader, I can't help but be concerned that the growing electronic media available for entertainment worries me when it comes to my kids.  Obviously I don't want them inundated with video games and movies, but it's more than that.  Simply put, I want my children to take quiet moments in their lives to sit down and read for pleasure.  My kids are currently very young - almost 2 and almost 4 - but as I watch the way in which they are being exposed to technology as opposed to…See More

About Me:
I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. Though it may seem a bit cliché, in my case it is absolutely true. I learned to read at a very young age thanks to my Mom, who worked diligently to open up a whole other world, which I have and still often travel to—the world of literature. Falling in love with books and reading from the moment I picked up my first reader, that love continued to blossom and grow. Along with my love of reading came a love of writing. I began writing my first stories as a child and never stopped. I submitted my first story to a publisher at the age of 11 and received an excellent response, despite the fact that they were unable to publish my work because I was under 14. Though the genres, topics and characters changed as I changed, my love for writing stories for children never ceased.

With the birth of each son came inspiration, but also a great deal of responsibility, growth and very little time to sleep let alone write. Now that they are leaving babyhood behind and moving into childhood, they provide plenty of entertainment. Occasionally, I may sneak away to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. My first story was completely inspired by the amazing experience my family underwent with the birth of my second son. We knew that he would somehow complete our family and we believed firmly that we should all be there to share it. Hence, my first book: The Mischiefs of the Murphy Brothers: Seamus's Brother Liam is Born. Scheduled release TBD Fall 2010!

I hope to be able to connect with other moms through my books going through similar experiences with their children; that we may lean on one another and share in this most precious time in the lives of our families.
