In another discussion it was mentioned that if you get a free copy of a book in a giveaway you are "obligated" to write a review. Now, I've done this, twice on Librarything. Each time I gave 75+ ebook copies of short story collections. This was four months ago. In that time I have had less than ten reviews - combined - posted. Which makes me wonder if it's worth it to go through all the work. True, it doesn't cost anything, but there should still be a return. According to the "obligation"…See More

What if you - this is really about me, so "I" - see a lot of issues with the book. Logically, I think, it seems, that I should write a review with all that in it and rate accordingly. But here's the problem. I'm a writer, too. I've given away several short collections of short stories and they've had mixed reviews. Some of them have been very…See More

The back cover blurb

So, I have a book, and it's done. I'm going to self-publish. Definitely I'll do the ebook. Be fool if I didn't. But I like physical books, so I'm going to do POD for that through createspace.com. I've got a cover and spine and back. But I'm missing that blurb that goes on the back. That piece that's supposed to tell a reader what the book is about, without giving away the whole story. And that's where I'm stuck at.I think I'd rather write another book instead of writing a back cover blurb. It…See More

New on the blog

So, hello. New here.I've been scouring the internet and taking friends' advice left and right on building a presence prior to my first novel coming out. I'm self-publishing and that was a hard decision that I'll probably discuss another day. Moving on...BookBlogs was one of the places that was suggested that a writer make a presence since here is a place that books are talked about. Word of mouth is the biggest seller of books and I'd like my book to sell. Why? First, because I believe I have a…See More

Hi!

Welcome to Book Blogs! I'm Kate, a young adult author. My second novel, Reaping Me Softly, has just been released by Omnific Publishing last October 30, 2012.

Ever since a near-death-experience on the operating table, seventeen-year-old Arianne Wilson can see dead people. Just as she’s learned to accept her new-found talents, she discovers that the boy she’s had a crush on since freshman year, Niko Clarke, is a Reaper.

At last they have something in common, but that doesn’t mean life is getting any easier. All while facing merciless bullying from the most powerful girl in school, Arianne’s world is turned upside down after Niko accidentally reaps the soul of someone she loves.  This sends them both into a spiral that threatens to end Arianne’s life. But will Niko break his own Reaper’s code to save her? And what would the consequences be if he did?

Grab your copy now at:

Amazon
Barnes & Noble

Omnific Publishing

I hope you enjoy your stay here! Lots of great people and interesting topics. If there's anything you might need, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my page.

Sincerely,

Kate
