An Introduction by my Daughter

Okay, I admit I never heard of the book, the Hunger Games before the movie came out. I know, you’re thinking ‘how could you be a reader and women’s fiction writer and not know about a best seller?  What can I say...stranger things have happened.  After all, I missed a decade of great television shows and movies…See More

Atomic Summer, ok I had to put that because it's mine. But seriously..Gone with the Wind
About Me:
Nimitz Highway and River Street is an intersection on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. This is where I impatiently came out of the womb ready to start on my own personal history.

I grew up in upstate New York against the backdrop of the flowering women’s rights movement with different ideas from my mother as to what my life as a woman should be. In college, I majored in psychology with the intent of being a “death & dying” counselor. This would be my paying job while I wrote the next great American novel. Plan B kicked in and I graduated with a B.A. in English, packed my car, and upset my parents by moving to Florida in search of my destiny.

Without ever having taken one business course, I created my own brand and became a successful business executive by day and women’s fiction writer by night. So far, I have lived a Lifetime Movie Network life, a mixture of extraordinary, ordinary, mundane, and terrifying, providing me great inspiration and fanning my creative flame.

My father imbued in me a strong sense of family. He brought to life the words unconditional love.

From my mother, I gained an appreciation for the complexities of relationships and richness in life one finds exploring and experiencing everything from a recipe, to a historical site, to lunch with friends, or a glass of wine. She was a collector of experiences. We journeyed together and grew as individuals and as mother-daughter. I shared her journeys battling cancer, surviving one and succumbing to another. In one of our last soulful conversations before she died, she told me she was glad I also had a daughter and she hoped I would enjoy my own daughter as much as she enjoyed me.

The most powerful influences in my life and my stories are being a daughter, mother, friend, and soul mate. But as a successful women’s fiction writer, does this surprise anyone?

THREE friends, TWO secrets, ONE lie, and the summer that changed their lives.

In 1953, three teenage girls’ innocent conversations about what each of them would do if the end of the world were imminent, coupled with a friend’s obsession, become the catalyst for a prank that spins wildly beyond control and draws in an entire town.  Left behind in the wake of that summer’s events are their unrealized dreams and open wounds.  In 1973, a reunion trip to the small town of their youths returns them to the summer of 1953 and the passion and betrayal that changed their lives.

I didn't write Atomic Summer to make a living.  I wrote it to be read. So it only seems fitting that since my mother was the inspiration for the book, that I give 100% of my royalties away to cancer causes and charities. Can you please help me spread the word.

Life After Death?

What happens to us when we die?  For many, that is a question of faith with very definitive answers.  For others, it is a mystery subject to debate and speculation.  There are people who claim to know exactly what happens when we die via near-death experiences.  When clinically dead, they visit the other side,…

A "Hot & Steamy" Atomic Summer vs. Too Many Shades of Grey

I am honored to be invited to guest post on Pavarti Tyler’s Fighting Monkey Press.  When asked to think about a topic, she said it was pretty much up to me but most of her site were irreverent posts.

As I began to think about a topic, I came across an article in USA Today about the Fifty Shades of…

Hi, I came across your blog, and I thought you would be the perfect person to contact.

My name is Jay Siva, the founder of EZBuyButton.com, an easy 'buy book' widget for authors. I'm contacting you today because I think you and your readers would love to know about the EZBuyButton widget I've created.

It is the most advanced 'buy now' widget for selling books. I make it free for authors and publishers, worldwide, to quickly and easily create and use our EZBuyButton widget to place on their website or blog to immediately increase the sales of their books, especially if their books are listed for sale in more than one retail store. I made it super easy, with just a few clicks they just copy & paste a piece of code onto their website/blog, and they're done.

The widget allows website visitors to select which device they'd like to use to read the author's book, and then select their preferred retail store that they'd like to purchase the book from. It also geolocates the visitor's location and will send the visitor to the correct country specific retail store so that they can buy the author's book. The widget is also fully customizable, and the author will have access to detailed real-time statistics of the use of their widget.

I would like to invite you to visit my website, and try out the EZBuyButton widget. I hope you find that my widget will be useful to you and your readers, including all the authors, literary agents, and publishers you're in contact with.

My website is http://www.ezbuybutton.com.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you. Thank you for your time.

kindest regards,
Jay Siva

Hi Elaine,

Thanks for connecting here. I've been lucky with the book so far, which I'm grateful for since profits are going to animal rescue, my passion.

Have a great day.

Hi Elaine!                                                                                                                     Hope your doing well. I finally got some time to get back here at BookBlogs! LOL  Because of the type of subject matter of my book, I have many sites I need to visit each day to support others. When my book is released next month...I'll try to spend more time here :-) Congrats on YOUR debut of your book. Sounds very interesting, and will try to set some time aside to give it a read!  You have a GREAT Week, and I'll keep in touch! God Bless! Catherine
