Hi Erica

Thank you for the kind words about the book. As you might have seen on my site, the book was with HarperCollins many moons ago, but then 9/11 happened and they got cold feet. The main problem my agent had with my novels was finding a genre that they could fit into. Satire isn't an easy thing to sell at the best of times.

As for the landing page and the book excerpt, I'm going to leave it as it is for the moment but may well change it if more people say the same thing. My temptation, to be honest, would have been to put the author bio on the front page, but all my friends in the industry said, "NO! Put the excerpt right on the landing page," so that's what I did. The site's only been up a few weeks, so I'll see how it goes, but thanks for siding with me! ;-)

All the best

John

Hi Erica

A pleasure to make your acquaintance and thank you for the welcome. I have been working in the publishing industry for 25 years as an editor of academic databases. I have also written four novels, which I placed in the hands of one of Ireland's leading agents. She was unable to find a home for them, however, and so, after ten years, I have decided to go the indie publishing route. My first novel, Breakfast at Cannibal Joe'es is just out in paperback, with the ebook to come out in the next couple of weeks. I've been blogging for about a decade, but have just set up my new site, at jayspencergreen.com, to launch my new writing venture.

I look forward to reading your comments and blogs. Thank you again for the welcome.

John
