I write "book club" fiction. Mostly about relationships--what is said, what is hidden, and how dynamics change when the truth is told.
That's also what I like to read. I spend half the year in Nova Scotia so I love Canadian writers, especially Margaret Atwood and Robertson Davies. Michael Ondaatje is pretty fabulous, too. I never miss books by Stuart Dybek or Susan Minot, and read some Southern writers like Darnell Arnoult, Joseph Bathanti, and Lee Smith.
When I'm not writing, I blog - mostly about the challenges of being a first-time author trying to get published in today's changing industry. My background is in sales, marketing & PR, so I focus on finding an agent, using social media, and providing links to news and trends.
