Anyone love contemporary literature?

You're speakin' my language! I've only been blogging about a month-and-a-half, but have already hit two of the "items" you mention - Stephen King, and Pillars of the Earth. I, too, love contemporar...

WHAT IS THE ABSOLUTELY WORST BOOK YOU'VE EVER READ?

That's easy: Digital Fortress, by Dan Brown. I literally threw the book across the room in relief when I finished. Just awful. Greg The New Dork Review of Books

Send me a note, if you'd be interested in reading my book. I'm no DFW, but I am a highly controversial, somewhat unrefined up-and-coming female author... I have two review copies that I want to unload, and after reading your blog, I'd be happy to send you one.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the connection -- I'm following your blog as well (and I've never read War and Peace either!). And now that you mention it, why don't more males read books and write about them. Hmm...

Hi :) Right now I'm reading as widely as possible (Saturday by Ian McEwan; A disorder peculiar to the county by Ken Kalfus; The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Khaled Housseni; The Zero by Jess Walter; Extremely loud and Incredibly close by Jonathon Safran Foer; Falling man by Don DeLillo; Terrorist by John Updike) and then I'm going to pick out a dominating theme/topic and the relevant books. At the moment, I'm thinking that trauma lit will provide the best analysis tool, although looking at non-American perspectives interests me too.

I've had quite a few people tell me I'm wrong about Beach Music. Maybe I'll go back sometime and try again, but at the moment my "To Be Read" stack is presenting an ever-growing challenge! Now you know where my blog title comes from!
