Do you do podcasts?

Hello, book bloggers,I'm wondering how many of you have tried to do a podcast on your blog - whether a review, author interview, etc.. Was it successful? Did it increase the traffic to your blog? If so, what tips do you have for doing grabbing, interesting podcasts? What content do you think has really drawn in your readers?(I ask all this because I did my first one this week - an…See More

Best Book of 2010 (so far)?

What is the best novel you've read in 2010 so far?  It could be either a novel actually published in 2010 (for me, Bloodroot, by Amy Greene) or a novel published any time that you've read in 2010 (for me, Let The Great World Spin, by Colum McCann). My TBR pile is actually…See More

Google's AdSense - Do You Use It?

I've seen the ads on some blogs, and it's not a huge distraction. But what do you actually get? Is it like a nickel per thousand clicks?

I can't get enough of these lists, and enjoying reading fellow book bloggers' takes on the best this year had to offer. Followers vs. Commenters

This is more a poll than a discussion, but since I started my blog , I've been wondering about which is more important to most other bloggers: A healthy followers number, or a lively discussion in the comments section? If you only had 10-15 readers, but they were constantly commenting, would you choose that over a follower roster of 100+?Just curious....See More

How do you read blogs?

I am curious how you keep track and read the books blogs you're following. Do you sign up to have them delivered via email? Do you subscribe via RSS? Do you use Google Reader? Or do you have them all bookmarked and manually check them?It seems as though there are so many ways to get content from blogs delivered via various services, meaning that readers never have to actually go to your site, unless they want to comment. Does this bother you as a blogger, or are you just happy that folks are…See More

Where are the fellas?

First and foremost, I certainly do not mean this post as any sort of disparagement to the women members. Some of you have signed up and contributed some insightful and interesting comments to my new blog (thenewdorkreviewofbooks.blogspot.com), and for that I'm exceedingly grateful! But it does seem like there are a disproportionate amount of female members on this site. Are there more male book bloggers out there than there seem to be based on a quick review of the membership of this site? What…See More

Blog Layout

Any concrete tips on how to design and layout your blog? I've always thought the simpler the better, but it seems that, for whatever reason, book blog sites tend to be very cluttered - almost seizure-inducing, sometimes. What have you found in the design of your blog that has worked and what hasn't?Thanks,GregThe New Dork Review of BooksSee More

So for a little while I've been lurking around New Dork Review of Books, being impressed with the good posts and variety you've got going on there. Just wanted to send a kudos and say that your blog (and a couple others) convinced me to put Thwok! on Book Blogs. Keep writing, I'll keep reading!

I'm amazed and thrilled at the number of volunteers Open Books has been able recruit. It's really inspiring. In fact, I'm not sure I would have started my blog if it weren't my visit to the store. It really made me feel like the "little guy" could make a difference. I'll do what I can to promote the organization on my blog. Thanks for following it! =)
