THE CURSE WORKERS

Seth writes . . .Like seeks likes, so I guess that’s why I picked up the book WHITE CAT, by Holly Black. It’s not my usual type of read, but Cassel Sharpe, the main protag, is like me. He also comes from a pretty unsavoury family. In his case, his parents, brothers, and grandfather are curse workers. Meaning? At the touch of a finger they can kill you, manipulate your emotions, blast your luck, or even make you hurt yourself. Nice.As far as Cassel knows, he’s ‘straight’, but that doesn’t exactly…See More

LET'S FEAST: WORMS, LOCUSTS AND CROCODILES

Erin writes . . . I have had friends ask me what Seth and I ate in Shenaya. At first I thought it was a bit of a weird question, but then it struck me: what do people focus on most when they talk about their holidays? The food, of course, especially if they've been somewhere strange. And travelling back in time by a thousand years is definitely strange. So, Shenayan food . . . The first word that springs to mind is ‘wild’ – a bit like the Shenayans themselves. Just about everything they ate –…See More

THE BIRD OF EVIL OMEN

Erin writes . . .Now that you know a little bit about sangomas, I thought I’d tell you about a creature that fills the hearts of thousands in Africa with terror. In fact, just the mention of its name sends people scurrying to the sangoma for protection amulets. And if it flies over your house, then it would be better to burn your home, because that is the very worst omen of all – someone in your family will surely die. So what is this creature, you ask?Let me introduce you to the LIGHTNING…See More

WE'RE DAUNTLESS!

Erin writes . . . Hey guys, even though this is not really what I usually write about, I have to share this with you. Seth and I took the faction quiz over at the Divergent Facebook page. And guess what? Surprise, surprise, we're both Dauntless! Not that I was expecting anything else about myself, but I admit to being a little taken-aback by Seth's outcome. When I first met him, I would have put Seth down as a peace-loving Amity. Apart from the brightly-coloured red and yellow clothes worn by…See More

HOW DO WE SPEAK TO THE DEAD?

Erin writes . .My last post about sangomas seems to have caused a stir. So today I’ll answer the question: how does the sangoma talk to the dead? Not surprisingly I suppose, the ancestors must first want to talk the sangoma! Unlike many people who choose allopathic medical professions, a person has to be called by the ancestors before they can train as a traditional healer. The ancestors usually make their chosen one ill, or give them strange dreams, or bad luck that never ends until they…See More

Hi Gwynneth, my name is Larry Rodness and I am inquiring about receiving a review on my newest YA novel entitled, "Perverse", published by Itoh Press in both print and electronic formats. Synopsis as follows:

19 year old Emylene Stipe is a 2nd generation Goth who, like every teenage girl, is trying to find her place in the world. One night she comes upon an old painting in an antique store and is compelled to purchase it. When she brings it home an image of a young woman appears in the sketch and then magically materializes in her apartment. Emylene nick-names her 'Poinsettia' and they soon become fast friends. But Poinsettia has an ulterior motive for her sudden and strange intrusion into her host's life which causes Emylene to question her whole belief system.
If there is interest I can forward an E Pub or PDF.

Hi, I wanted to greet you as I just joined the website.  I have recently published a FREE (donation based) eBook and I would be thrilled if you included a review on your site.  Here is a ditty about it:

The generous seas do roam vividly,

And sacred words spoken earnestly.

People suffer and people go to war,

I just hope these words will go afar.

On 26-4-2013 I published a FREE book,

Indeed a feat of altruism, no crook!

I suffer in silence in every moment.

I have no money to publish a stunt.

I was just hoping for word-of-mouth

And email propagation as loudmouth.

Book is at: http://bookbooster.com/newage.htm

I accept feedback just at: percarus@hotmail.com

I've found you on Facebook so I'll follow you from there if that's OK. I will definitely be reading, sharing and commenting on your page and will always follow the links back to blog posts too.  You are quite right though our blogs are VERY different and I really like that I'm being exposed to things outside of my normal comfort zone at the moment.

Thanks for your input.
