About Me:
I am a single mom, I work a full time job, going to college, I am a first time self publish author with a cause. My book might not be a best seller, but when I go speak at battered woman's shelters it is a best seller to them. Any one who has had trauma, needs to know they are not alone and there is hope. I also connect with Veterans because I feel the same way they do even though I did not go to war. Non-Combat PTSD~

Acknowledgments

“Severed Soul; is a book of trauma, determination, despair and pure revelation. This book will open your eyes as well as fill your heart with the author’s amazing story—telling style. Excellent information and resources about PTSD told in a way that you can relate to no matter what your trauma. I couldn’t stop reading and I have my fingers crossed that there will be a sequel.” Monique Houde, Author, Blinded By Love

“This book is unlike anything that I have ever read, I believe that it is incumbent upon those in health care to recognize that the damage done to the soul and psyche by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and verbally abusive living situations can create deep scars not easily seen or recognized by the human eye.” Joyce Carroll Fletcher RN, MSN

“Severed Soul is a powerful, life changing story of one woman’s incredible journey through the deep, dark valley of despair and betrayal and God’s amazing faithfulness to deliver and heal her against all odds. I was gripped by the trauma she had to endure and inspired by her faith to keep on going and never give up. This is a great read for all people of faith.” Rev. Dr. Paul Burton- Associate Pastor Tremont Temple Baptist Church.

Severed Soul offers insight and perspective that would help pastors and laypersons better serve persons who have suffered trauma. This is a thoughtful work that will challenge perceptions within the Church, but I believe will help bring the reality of God into the reality of broken lives. Christopher Brown, Pastor

“Severed Soul; reaches into the despair of abuse. Sadly, there are wounded souls that suffer from such tragedy on a daily basis. For a book like this to be written, is a call for repair in the heart of those who search for help." D. Dodge, Writer, Director, J.L. One Productions.

Family, PTSD, and Unhealthy Relationships

I have learned much through my journey, I have learned through group, individual, and within my own inner soul if a relationship is unhealthy "get out". That does not include just an intimate relationship, it includes all. Even a father, mother, step mother, cousins, friends, any one who is controlling, manipulative, mentally or physically abusive or who has harmed me or others in the past are unhealthy relationships. It is OK to NOT be a part of someone's life due to their behavior.......it is… Continue

PTSD Poem

Freak

I am a zombie.

I feel nothing; almost dead inside.

But I feel just enough to know the human in me is still there.

I cry and I feel; why can I not project myself to others?

I feel deeper than most……

Trauma is hard to describe to those who know of none.

I trust no one for they maybe the enemy; one who would hurt me.

I am a zombie.

My brain feels like someone has shook me hard; a big jolt.

A numbness of sorts;

I hear… Continue

Reviews for Severed Soul

Reviews:

As I read this writers story, it brought back a lot of memories from my 1st marriage, which I am no longer in. I could see the crazy feelings this writer was feeling, I could definetly relate to her story. Excellent book to help you discover that there is way out and to keep believing in yourself; as you do have the strength to survive. Great Book! Thank you! Bobbie Pero

I'll be sure you get an invite. I'm actually kicking around the idea of a public event because last year so many people were excluded. We had 80 but couldn't fit any more in the venue we chose.

The launch party is my favorite day of the year. I'm hoping I can do another wine tour as well.

Hi JL,
I don't know when you find free time with your schedule! I salute you for your standing up for a cause and for being so industrious. Hopefully you're giving God some quality time too. I found that when I got so busy that He was the one who got left off the schedule. I'm trying to rectify that now.
Blessings upon you!

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER: THE SILENT EPIDEMIC

J.L. Vallee is among the hundreds of thousands of people who have experienced trauma in their lives, resulting in devastating, life-long effects.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened.

Vallee’s book, Severed Soul: One Woman’s Journey through Post Traumatic Stress, vividly depicts trauma in its varied forms.

This is a survival story about how PTSD, once thought to be a condition suffered only by soldiers brutalized and ravaged by war, can affect men and women who have found themselves in traumatic situations.

People who are in abusive relationships are just as likely to suffer from PTSD as soldiers are, according to studies released by the National Institute of Mental Health.

In detail, Ms. Vallee describes her experience of dealing with PTSD. She explains what it was like to live everyday in a hell, consumed by real fear and irrational fear. “Between the trauma from car accidents, emotional abuse, and death…” Severed Soul will take you into the world of PTSD.

PTSD is as real as cancer, and it has no prejudice when it comes to age, race, gender or economic status.

“Severed Soul will lead you through the feelings of personal anguish and fear that live within a person suffering from PTSD,” Ms. Vallee explains. “This story is told in an unusual and unique way, though it is an easy and informative read.”

The author states how PTSD can be caused as a result of many life-altering episodes, including:
 Emotional abuse
 Natural disasters
 Catastrophic accidents
 Violent sexual or physical assault
 War
 Terrorism
 Kidnapping

Harrowing and dynamic in its detail, Ms. Vallee’s book has opened up a whole new way of looking at the darker side of being human, and offers a lifeline to countless numbers of people out in the world who are living in fear and without hope.

“This book will educate those with a loved one who suffers from PTSD, and will give hope to those who have experienced trauma,” says Ms. Vallee. “I want people to know they are not alone, and that help is out there for those who suffer.”

J.L. Vallee resides in central New England and is currently attending Mount Wachusett Community College in the legal studies program. She is an advocate for battered women and veterans.
