This first appeared on my website blog on July 21st, 2010. The issue of spineless journalism in our nation’s media continues and even worsens.
Today is July 21st, 2010, one day past the last Democratic Primary and Republican Primary elections. It was the day to choose which candidate is allowed to represent each party in their given field of interest in the General Election of November. Those fields include races for state representation of our…

When a person has heard the message of the Gospel and then academically understood, accepted, and believed the truth about the world they live in, he or she then must act. We must audibly let others know that we have heard and believed the message. Action is the result of hearing and believing what we have accepted to believe as truth to us. Without the action the message is not carried forward to someone else through our words or actions. This one thing is the most critical component to the…

I loved my father, my dad, my daddy. That is what I called him until the last time I saw him alive. He was a patient in Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia at that time in 2002. He would be moved into an assisted living facility only to die the first night he was there. My wife and sisters and I met around his bed the next morning paying our respects to him and for what kind of person he was. I was not sure then, nor am I now, that my sisters shared the same relationship with…

I never met my paternal grandmother. She had already passed when I was born. I’m sure I would have enjoyed her company because I certainly enjoyed the company of her only son…my dad. He had a big heart. He had lots of stories and loved to tell them. He had an interesting past which included time with the grandmother I never met.
My dad came from a blended family. That was something of an anomaly in the year he was born…1918. Even if it was due to the death of a mate it was…

Jerry, thank you for the kind welcome and the invitation to post on your page. You have provided a virtual handshake and I greatly appreciate it. My book is the result of a spiritual quest and its reoccurring themes not only tell a story, but they kept me writing through many dark hours.
My work is Memory Lake, the forever friendships of summer, Vantage Point Books, July 2011. Here is a description and the Amazon link:
"In Memory Lake, a present day journey runs parallel to a distant place of memory where friendships formed and faith grew. Facing her mom’s recent passing, the author recalls another time in her life when she was learning to live without her. Told to her teenage daughter through a series of idyllic, challenging, and humorious flashbacks, the author reveals her teenage years at a summer camp. Transcending preconceived notions, this novel's depth and wisdom forms a complex and entertaining weave of camp's meaningful and lasting implications.
Set along the shores of Lake Michigan, friendships stand the test of time and the challenges of motherhood. This memoir will infiltrate your dreams and if you’ve never attended summer camp, you’ll feel as if you have. Take the journey back to Memory Lake."
Darrell Moneyhon said… Hi Jerry, You said that Catalina thought we had something in common. I enjoyed book and review swapping with Catalina, and she has been very supportive of my book marketing attempts so far. Wonder what we have in common? Writing or philosophical themes?
Here's my book Allsville Emerging at www.allsvilleemerging.com or
http://sbpra.com/DarrellMoneyhon
About a proposed optimal community. Used fiction to present blueprint of a highly humanizing and spiritual community. Also used non-fictional philosophical discussion in between the fiction.
Are you an author? Reviewer? Interest in spirituality or social spirituality? social transformation? making the world a better place?
Here is the "Allsville Approach" when looked at as one of many strategies that might be used for positive social transformation:
The "Allsville Approach" to Positive Social Transformation
(as described in Allsville Emerging / www.allsvilleemerging.com)
• using model communities as socio-political experiments, from which we gradually learn
to do government, or "us," better
• enacting a democratic and deliberative process to collectively engineer a healthy culture
• maintaining a priority of developing human virtues in general
• forming and using systems which maximize the development and utilization of
human gifts (each person's unique aptitudes and dispositions) in particular
• consenting upon, and practicing, spiritual principles in common with all faith traditions
and secular expressions of spirituality
• creating and using an integrated system (utilizing pooled resources and organized into an
"indigenous corporation") for developing an optimal lifestyle service
• placing our lifestyle service (as provided in our intentional communities) on the global
market
Looking forward to learning what you and I have in common.
Darrell
