In my novel “An Accidental Life,” I focused on a local phenomenon in the Central Valley of California – methamphetamine abuse. In the early nineties, I was working in child welfare services for the County of Fresno, and a proliferation of substance abuse cases (related to methamphetamine or “crank” abuse) became a regular aspect in the life of the social worker.
Years later, when I decided to pen a novel that featured these issues, I chose to zero in on characters that were composites of those…

Best, Keta
I will read it when she's done and of course, leave a review post.
I'll keep you posted!
She grabbed it from my hands before I had a chance to open the first page.
Last night, she gave me the low-down:
This author is a very good writer, and I'm hooked on this story about grandmother, daughter and granddaughter.
I'll be reading it when she finished.
Feel free to post that Mom is totally enthralled and has so mnay nice things to say about your writing and the boo. She reads about four books a week, some of which I never hear a thing about, so she's impressed.
Hugs, Keta
How are you, hope all is well with you.
Sounds like you and I have had very similar career paths and I'm very much hoping to be an author one day too, so that would match perfectly, lol. I've worked in child protection since college.. I was a case worker until this past year when I moved over to the child protection team to do forensic interviews. I've still got about a year for my master's and I haven't decided yet if I will leave to do just counseling once I'm done or stay here too. I love working in this field even though it's frustrating sometimes.
God Bless You
Barbara Hart.

Book Synopsis:
The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.
Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.
The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
