I am both an entrant and a judge (vastly different categories of course--and as I doubt I will win it really is not an issue). I have seen an upswing in sales of both e- and p-versions of the book I submitted (How to Get ANY MAN to do ANYTHING You Want!) so it seems worth the investment, but i should have not wasted the $59 on entering for "best cover." Ugh! That was some stiff competition. 

It has been a little hectic, being the first time anyone ever attempted this, but next year's shindig should be much smoother. I think I will convert one of my books into e-format for next year's contest as well.

A meme is basically a way to get a discussion going around the blogging community and to generate blog traffic. They'll be a once a week occurrence hosted by a particular blog, and if you want to take part they'll have a linky tool on their original post so that you can link back to your post of the meme so other people can find it. Some of them are a way of promoting your blog i.e. IMM (in my mailbox) is a meme where you let people know what books you've bought or received during the previous week and you can write up a little summary about what's been happening on your blog (reviews, discussion posts etc). Others will have a weekly topic for you to answer, i.e. Top 10 Tuesday will give you a new topic to list your top 10 favourite ___ each week. 

There are tonnes out there and they're a lot of fun and a great way to get people to find your blog if you're only new. I'd recommend just checking out a few of them and how they work if you're interested and take part in any that catch your eye. If you're following a few blogs chances are they're all taking part in one or two themselves so you can find out a few of them that way, or maybe start a forum post asking for everyone's recommendation?

This Life is a work in progress, I am just in the downward track to finishing my first draft, and then the dreaded re writes! Congrats on your book by the way, what an exciting stage to be at! I left a comment on your blog (I hope it worked) Sometimes blog can be problematic, but most of the time it's pretty good. I also added you as a friend on Facebook. It's so nice to meet another aspiring writer, especially in the same genre! Us paranormal gals, have to stick together. I look forward to finding more about you and your book. Will is be available in paperback? 

I am working on getting a Kindle seeing as I am so impatient, but I fear it will make my impulse purchasing so much more worse..haha...
