For any one who lives at the edge of the Arabian Desert, a trip to Paris especially in spring time is a wonderful experience, but the Author of this book never thought that such a trip could lead to writing this book.
Having spent the most beautiful years of his youth in the western world, either in southern Germany on the shores of the Starenberger Lake where he attended school, or later on German ships and Marine Schools where he completed his training, he made many friends and has grown to love his youth play grounds, the people, the food and the language.
However he realized soon and with pain from old songs, kid’s stories, parables, folks tales, poems, literature, jokes and so forth that he was in fact living in a world that hated his culture and way of life, when he returned home, he found an equally hating and mistrusting people towards the others.
All this despite the fact that he was convinced that similarities are by far greater than the obvious differences between the two worlds, the rift was allowed to grow as if those similarities do not exist.
It was however gratifying to realize that there are by far more people on both sides who wanted those two worlds to come closer to each other and soon it was evident that ignorance of each other was the major problem.
It is about time to introduce our selves to each other in a plane way, we met many centuries ago unfortunately mainly on the battle field where there was no time nor interest to shake hands and to introduce our selves to each other, on each side, ignorant “Scholars, Politicians and Military Generals “decided to take the role on themselves ensuring ever lasting enemy ship, they combined ignorance with fanaticism, hatred and greed , it must be said that they “on both sides “managed to separate those two worlds.
The book “Sabir the Egyptian” is the life story of a man who lived some two hundred years ago during a turbulent period of east / west relationship, by telling his story the author hopes that on both sides many facts will be clear, such as that the driving forces of hate , greed and domination on both sides can be fatal for both civilizations if the intellectuals and wise thinkers do not step in and put an end to the mischievous acts of those who want to reestablish Alexander’s Kingdom or the Roman Empire again , like Napoleon or Hitler or those who want to repeat the un Islamic and murderous acts of Eleven September.
This book is a try to tell the story about the first major encounter between west and east after the crusades, to hopefully paint a picture on how it should never be again.
