Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Hi Nicole,

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans. I am writing because my debut novel, Dirty Little Angels, is now available, and I was hoping you might be willing to mention it on your blog (or review it). If you're interested, I'd be glad to send you an e-book version of the book. Just let me know. I've included a summary of the novel below:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses's lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses's twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

If you'd like to read the first chapter before you commit, feel free to visit my web site:

Thanks so much,
Chris

I never heard back from you after I told you that the themes couldn't be customized (which luckily changed shortly thereafter) so I had thought you'd given up. I'm so glad that you didn't!!! I left a comment on your site - very cool!

Have you thought about perhaps writing a guest post for my site? We could swap guest posts - I could finally have the chance to write a fiction book review, and you could write up a nonfiction book review about any book you wanted to. I get fairly good traffic to my site, so it'd be a great way for you to get new readers.

Just a suggestion - you don't have to do it if you don't want to, promise!

Have a great evening,

Havs

You'll have to feel your way through the memes, challenges and other blogging options. They're great for getting to know other bloggers, but they also take time away from reading. I find it hard enough to blog and read! We have tried some simple book-related activities on our blog, such as sorting titles to tell a story, an activity I saw on The Guardian's excellent book blog. Two examples: Somewhere a Cat is Waiting/To Kill a Mockingbird/In a Dark House/Bad Kitty or As I Lay Dying/All The King's Men/Run/Parting the Waters/God Knows/Wait Til Next Year. You'll never look at your shelves the same way again.
p.s. I like your idea about including older books once in a while. We all have missed out on great books and need to be reminded about them.

Nicole, love the idea for your blog. As a writer for the Baltimore Sun book blog (baltimoresun.com/readstreet) I've been fascinated by the growth of independent book blogs. But as one author said while lamenting the cutbacks in newspaper book reviews, it seems like most of them are talking about the same 12 books. I'll be looking out for your picks.
