Greetings from this brand new blogger. In fact, and it may show, I have never blogged before. This is my first post here so please excuse me if I am being forward. - I am not a young man but I don't really feel old. Sometimes, as when I wrote my book: "Everything Happened in Vietnam: The Year of the Rat", I still believe I am 19. Not necessarily in the War mind you, but perhaps walking down 43rd Street along the side of Hiawatha golf course and the lake. Remembering the school dances I attended when I was younger.
Sometimes I am 12 years old again and skating on Hiawatha lake holding hands with an older girl. I was the best skater at the park accept for Mike Dalson, who was the best speed skater. But I used hockey skates. No one could catch us in ice pom-pom-pullaway.
Older girls would skate with us around the lake on a path cleared by a snowplow. We would skate at night under the moonlight. The air was fresh and frigid and my skin tingled like the feeling in my hand.
It was great to be alive. It still is!
