About Me:
I was born and grew up in South Korea. I'm a historian by education (Queen's University, BA and MA). I taught English in Japan and Korea for 18 years (10 of them at Yonsei University in Seoul) and am now a full-time writer.

The books I've written include "The Imjin War: Japan's Sixteenth-Century Invasion of Korea and Attempt to Conquer China" (Royal Asiatic Society, Seoul; and Institute of East Asian Studies Press, UC Berkeley, 2005); "Inside the Hermit Kingdom" (Lexington Books, 2007); "America's Man in Korea" (Lexington, 2007); "Speed Duel: The Inside Story of the Land Speed Record in the Sixties" (Firefly Books, 2010); and "I Just Ran: Percy Williams, World's Fastest Human" (Ronsdale Press, 2011).

I have recently tried my hand at fiction. My first novel, just completed, is entitled "Bad Elephant Far Stream." It chronicles the life of a circus elephant, from her capture in the wild in Ceylon in 1871 to her death in 1903, after being declared "bad." It's inspired by the true story of the elephant Topsy, whose death by electrocution in 1903 was filmed (and can be watched on Youtube).

Until now, I have gone the traditional publishing route, working through agents and publishing houses, and have earned very little. I am now on the verge of taking the plunge into doing it all myself, i.e. starting my own publishing company. God help me!

Hello,
I came across your website, and I thought you would be the perfect person to contact.
My name is Jay Siva, the founder of EZBuyButton.com, an easy 'buy book' widget for authors. I'm contacting you today because I think you and your readers would love to know about the EZBuyButton widget I've created.
It is the most advanced 'buy now' widget for selling books. I make it free for authors and publishers, worldwide, to quickly and easily create and use our EZBuyButton widget to place on their website or blog to immediately increase the sales of their books, especially if their books are listed for sale in more than one retail store. I made it super easy, with just a few clicks they just copy & paste a piece of code onto their website/blog, and they're done.
The widget allows website visitors to select which device they'd like to use to read the author's book, and then select their preferred retail store that they'd like to purchase the book from. It also geolocates the visitor's location and will send the visitor to the correct country specific retail store so that they can buy the author's book. The widget is also fully customizable, and the author will have access to detailed real-time statistics of the use of their widget.
I would like to invite you to visit my website, and try out the EZBuyButton widget. I hope you find that my widget will be useful to you and your readers, including all the authors, literary agents, and publishers you're in contact with.
My website is http://www.ezbuybutton.com.
If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you. Thank you for your time.
kindest regards,
Jay Siva

Hi!

Welcome to Book Blogs! I'm Kate, a young adult author. My second novel, Reaping Me Softly, has just been released by Omnific Publishing last October 30, 2012.

Ever since a near-death-experience on the operating table, seventeen-year-old Arianne Wilson can see dead people. Just as she’s learned to accept her new-found talents, she discovers that the boy she’s had a crush on since freshman year, Niko Clarke, is a Reaper.

At last they have something in common, but that doesn’t mean life is getting any easier. All while facing merciless bullying from the most powerful girl in school, Arianne’s world is turned upside down after Niko accidentally reaps the soul of someone she loves.  This sends them both into a spiral that threatens to end Arianne’s life. But will Niko break his own Reaper’s code to save her? And what would the consequences be if he did?
