Oh my goodness Arabella - isn't that unreal - what a small world.

So nice to meet a "local".

Whereabouts are you - send me a private message so as not to "advertise" your personal details.

Cheers,

Marcia

Hi Arabella, you asked about my book - yes you are right. It is as you say - a positive bent on an apocolyptic story.  However it more about humans trying to overcome the destruction, greed and ignorance which lead to the apocolypse.  It has love, sorrow, mystical ceremony, herbal medicine, huge conflicts and all set in the Andean Mountains of Peru.

I have been very rattled by a few reviews by readers - it seems that people either love it or hate it.  One reader said it was like reading the minutes of a board meeting!!   I even considered withdrawing the book and rewriting it but I was talked out of that idea.

It seems like men over 50 think it is wierd; women who like vampires hate it.  The market seems to be women who lean towards the alternative lifestyle.

I paid for a professional review and they gave me 4 stars out of 5.

So Arabella,  I was wondering if you would like a copy of the book (you live in OZ so the postage will be minimal) and maybe give me a good honest opinion?

Also, do you think we need to take all reviews seriously?  Bad reviews really rattle me!

Thanks heaps

Helen

Hi Arabella.

Well luckily polar bears are not an everyday occurrence as it is we are supposed to bring a shotgun if we walk outside the city limits :-)  (city = 600 people) this time of the year. But yes it is the living in polar bear country that made me choose them as my rating system.

As for my challenges, I suddenly felt I couldn't keep track of them and that was what I came up with.

I see you are also into steampunk, until a few days ago I had never heard the expression. I saw a challenge about it but didn't want to join as I didn't know what it was. Could you suggest a book in this genre that would be a good starting point for me, preferably a stand alone book.
