About Me:
I am a wife and stay-at-home mom to five kids (from toddler to teen!). Last year we moved from Portland, Oregon to the Houston, Texas area, and I'm still trying to adjust. :) I've been blogging my book reviews for over three years, but just recently decided to get "serious" about it. I used to review at my blog, Paper Diet Books, but have rededicated my efforts at my new blog, book:thirty (as in, "Time to Read!"). I now do a lot of early reviews and am starting to participate in giveaways and online book tours. It's a great fit for me, and I'm grateful for my family's support. Books have always, always been a great passion of mine, and I'm so happy to say I've passed that love on to all my children.

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Hi Stacey,

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans. I am writing because my debut novel, Dirty Little Angels, is now available, and I was hoping you might be willing to mention it on your blog (or review it). If you're interested, I'd be glad to send you an e-book version of the book. Just let me know. I've included a summary of the novel below:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses's lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses's twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

If you'd like to read the first chapter before you commit, feel free to visit my web site:

Thanks so much,

So, you just reviewed my sister's book - A View From Jerusalem! I posted a comment on your blog :) I like your blog a lot and when I saw that we ran in many of the same "book blogging" circles, I decided we should be friends :) You've got darling children!

You know, I couldn't agree with you more on your experience so far in TX. I grew up in tx in a small town, but moved to NYC when I was 17. Coming back has been a huge culture shock for me. You're absolutely right about the public transit - it kills me that I have to drive everywhere, and traffic is SO bad in Dallas. I wish it was more of an option.

As for diversity and environment issues - My husband and I have run into a lot of walls there as well. We're both fairly liberal, so it doesn't fit into the mold very well.

We've made some great friends since we've been here, too. But you're right, it's a completely different world.

Thanks for the welcome! And as a fellow transplant to texas, welcome! how are you liking it? I came from NYC, so complete opposite of the country as you!

I love what you have about Emerson. His quotes have gotten me through some good and tough times. I've always said 'There is an Emerson quote for every situation.' I even have one tattoo'd on my back. ;o)

Hi -I really think you would enjoy it. I was in a book shop yesterday and they said that they can't keep it on the shelf. It goes out as soon as it comes in. Everyone who I know who has read it loves it. Highly recommended
