A book some will try to stop you from reading.

What do you do when life seems vague and you feel like you are losing your control and sense of direction? The desire to understand the meaning of life is native to all of us. When we understand the fundamentals of life, its meaning comes to us naturally through the evolution of consciousness and a sense of responsibility that is derived from understanding, not fear. Without these fundamentals, we are vulnerable in life - since challenges are more able to shatter our confidence, making whatever…See More

A recommendation for the New Year

This is more of a recommendation than a discussion, but feel free to discuss the recommendation. :)Here it is. Allow me to make a recommendation as you approach the New Year. When you set your resolutions, do not regard any resolutions not achieved in the year passing as failure, instead - consider your actions towards them incomplete. That way you can find out what went missing and allow yourself to learn better ways to make your resolutions a reality. The worst thing you can ever do to…See More

Unwillingly sidetracked*?

Goals - almost everybody has them, but not all of us know how to go for them. How many times have you set a goal or made a resolution, then only discover at the end of the year that you somehow drifted off the mark of where you wanted to be? Well, if you did not miss your mark due to an “Act of God,” then maybe your mind had something to do with it. The human mind is a creature of curiosity. When it is unregulated, that curiosity turns the mind into sort of a puppet to everything that… Continue

Happy Holidays!

You may not know me or my work but I am the author of six critically acclaimed, award winning novels and I have been nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction. On Jan 9th 2010 my debut novel SUGAR will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary and I hope you will buy a copy or to help commemorate this milestone. And yes, Kindle purchases count!

"Bernice L. McFadden's first novel begins with the brief, poetic description of a crime so startling that the reader is helplessly drawn in, as if a bright red door stood ajar on a bleak and forbidding house. Pearl Taylor's daughter, Jude, has been found murdered and mutilated near a field at the edge of town. "The murder had white man written all over it," writes McFadden. "But no one would say it above a whisper. It was 1940. It was Bigelow, Arkansas. It was a black child. Need any more be said?" In the years that follow, Pearl catches sight of Jude in so many strangers that when Sugar Lacey comes to town and sets up her unwholesome "business" in the house next door, she doesn't know whether to believe what she sees in Sugar's face: a striking similarity to Jude, dead 15 years. In her sedate but supple prose--rising at times to a light, unforced lyricism in the description of landscape or character--the author perfectly renders the closed and protective society of a small Southern town, the superstitions, gossip, and prying."

Peace & Blessings!

Thanks for the friending, and nice to meet you! It sounds like you've had some amazing experiences - I love hearing about people's perspectives from around the globe (living overseas and going to an international school was a rich experience for me).
Best wishes for the new year!
