amazing Love by K. Dawn Byrd

Talk about peaks and valleys! This story is a regular roller coaster ride of emotion. At times I was frustrated (not with the book but with the characters!) but I was compelled to read on. This modern retelling of the Biblical story of Hosea and Gomer is very realistic  and definitely highlights the extent of God's grace. Some readers may find the content disturbing although there is nothing overtly explicit. Well done! See More

The Turning by Davis Bunn

Davis Bunn’s The Turning is well crafted, drawing the reader in slowly but surely to a complex story of media manipulation. The story comes from several points of view. A group of strangers have a chance meeting and feel God’s call to pray after each takes difficult personal steps of growth. At first they don’t know why they have been drawn together, but it soon becomes apparent when a huge media campaign aimed at reaching a generation that has lost hope hits the airwaves. Through God’s…See More

The Kalgoorlie Skimpy

Feisty Ferreira is at it again in this mystery by Martin Roth. This is the second Feisty mystery I've read and remains the tenacious amateur PI that I remembered from the first book. A geologist by trade, born in Brazil, educated in the US and living in Australia, Feisty lives up to her nickname as she solves the mystery behind the murder of one of her colleagues in a backwoods mining town. She is a likeable character and I hope to see more of her in future books. Having said that, it did seem…See More

A Place Called Bliss

This pioneer saga is rich in historical details and comes from multiple points of view over a span of twenty years. The story develops gradually and is rich in descriptive details as two families move from Scotland to the vastness of the Canadian frontier. The Galloways are wealthy and entitled, about to take their place among the bourgeoning society in the city of Toronto. The Morrisons are headed further west to take up a homestead on the prairies. The two families are connected through…See More

Merlin's Blade

Merlin’s Blade by Robert Treskillard, is historically rich and true to the Arthurian literary tradition. The story centers around young Merlin, son of the local blacksmith and blinded at an early age by a fierce wolf attack. His disability has not defeated him, however, and he turns out to be a worthy opponent to the druids who want to take over the town and return it to their pagan ways. There is humor, romance, heroism, and a touch of the poetic reminiscent of Tolkien. Once I finished reading…See More

Dawnsinger a review

Dawnsinger is one of those books that draws you in and won’t let go. It is definitely allegorical but not to the extent that it becomes cliché. Shae, the heroine, is whisked away to the Faeraven by her brother Kai, in service to the dying queen. An epic adventure ensues – too much to go into detail here, but suffice to say that it embodies the quintessential struggle between good and evil. I will be reading the sequel Wayfarer as soon as I can get my hands on it. After about page two, I…See More

Give the Lady a Ride - Review

Give the Lady a Ride by Linda Yezak is so much more than just another romance, although there is plenty of that, too.  It is also a story of deepening faith and learning to trust God despite the circumstances. Patricia Talbot has inherited a Texas ranch from her uncle. She and her friend Marie arrive at the ranch and are met by two good looking ranch hands. Romance ensues – a fairly uncomplicated affair for Marie and Chance, and a much more complex awakening for Pat and Talon. As a way to earn…See More

God's Daughter - a review

God’s Daughter by Heather Day Gilbert is a must read for historical fiction fans, those interested in Viking lore and culture, or just anyone looking for an emotionally charged and gripping read. It is written from the perspective of a Viking woman named Gudrid sometime around 1000 AD when these fierce warriors were exploring the northern seas. Most of the tale is told from a first person, present perspective, heightening the immediacy and emotional honesty of the story. Gudrid has become a…See More

MY PUBLISHED WORK

AND THE BEAT GOES ON
ISBN - 978-1-60693-199-8

Canadian born archeologist Mark Graham unearths a remarkable discovery while at a dig in the mountains of Zimbabwe – pterodactyl remains and giant human bones buried together. Speculation leads to the possible existence of a mythical race known as ‘Nephilim’, a pre-flood people alleged to have descended from both gods and men.

But skepticism and sabotage delay Mark and his team as the dig site is compromised, putting their discovery – as well as his very life – in grave danger. Deceived and framed by trusted friends and colleagues, Mark struggles to safeguard his findings and protect his reputation in order to unearth the mystery behind the Nephilim.

PLAY IT AGAIN

ISBN: 978-1-61204-392-0

Sparks fly when an ex rock and roll junkie and a stuffy accountant rendezvous at a local resort, but neither are prepared for the emotional entanglements, family complications, and a threat from the past that unexpectedly resurfaces. Set in the 1980′s, this story brings two opposing forces together in a clash of romance and danger, while its musical undertones highlight the theme that God can turn anything into beautiful music.

PLAY IT AGAIN is the much anticipated prequel to Tracy’s debut novel AND THE BEAT GOES ON. Find out where Mark Graham’s journey began in this, the story of his parents.

WIND OVER MARSHDALE

ISBN: 978-1-62135-041-5

Marshdale. Just a small farming community where nothing special happens.  A perfect place to start over… or get lost. There is definitely more to this prairie town than meets the eye. Once the meeting place of aboriginal tribes for miles around, some say the land itself was cursed because of the people’s sin. But its history goes farther back than even indigenous oral history can trace and there is still a direct descendant who has been handed the truth, like it or not. Exactly what ties does the land have to the medicine of the ancients? Is it cursed, or is it all superstition?

Wind Over Marshdale is the story of the struggles within a small prairie town when hidden evil and ancient medicine resurface. Caught in the crossfire, new teacher Rachel Bosworth finds herself in love with two men at once. First, there is Thomas Lone Wolf, a Cree man whose blood lines run back to the days of ancient medicine but who has chosen to live as a Christian and faces prejudice from every side as he tries to expose the truth. Then there is Con McKinley, local farmer who has to face some demons of his own. Add to the mix a wayward minister seeking anonymity in the obscurity of the town; eccentric twin sisters – one heavily involved in the occult and the other a fundamentalist zealot; and a host of other ‘characters’ whose lives weave together unexpectedly for the final climax. This suspenseful story is one of human frailty - prejudice, cowardice, jealousy, and greed – magnified by powerful spiritual forces that have remained hidden for centuries, only to be broken in triumph by grace.

SERIES!

COLONY ZERO - Volume 1 Contact

In 2810, they’re called Zeroes. Some Zeroes are born, somehow slipping through the genetic screening and purification tests in utero mandated by an overpopulated Earth. Others become Zeroes later, the worst murderers and thieves and abusers, despite the same genetic screening. Whether born or made, they are Earth’s outcasts, the dregs, sent to a perpetually dark rock orbiting a Y-class brown dwarf star by a society without the patience or desire to deal with them.

COLONY ZERO - Volume 5 - Sins of the Fathers

Fear and confusion are mounting on Colony Zero since the arrival of the Earth ship Valkyrie 2. Renata, chief spiritual leader, has her hands full trying to keep the citizens calm. Her own son is not making life any easier with his radical disregard for their way of life. Then she discovers that a potentially dangerous secret could not only threaten to destroy their utopian way of life, but the very existence of the planet.
