I could try to name one of my favourite books - wait, it's cruel to make me pick just one. What kind of question is this?

He much closer to Garcia Marquez than to Agatha Christie. It was meant to be soul searching and semi philosophical - a Japanese in wartime China, where the enemy were the Japanese.
