I love to travel and write. I live in Harlem, NY and am having my first book published. Imagine: A Vagabond Story will be released in the spring. Check out the official website.
Grant,
Congratulations. I tried to get my first novel published, Poker, Pukes and Prophets; and I received 88 rejects. I believe I contacted every publisher in the United States. 70+ odd rejects were computer generated, and the other 18 were a little more on the personal side of a nice...thanks...but no thanks...no one read the one page query....and no one read the book. I self-published thru Createspace.com.
I have another novel done, in the can. I am half done with a third....I am writing because that is all I can do now.....I use to work 70 hours a week, 6 days a week without fail. No vacations...no time off. I made them very wealthy....and got zero...nothing in return. My heart is shot now, and I wrote because I have always written....but now it is for real.
I know a lot of people in L.A. in the Hollywood business....they are without a doubt...the scummiest people on the Planet. I believe that this book business....well, it is a close second. The publishers are Eals....just sucking the blood out of healthy fish. Good luck to you, and it would be good to hear how you got published by a real publisher.
Grant,
Congrats on the new book. I wish I'd started at a younger age. I guess you could say I'm a late bloomer. Didn't get my first novel published until May (though I've had a few other books published over the years). The audience for OUT OF THE PUMPKIN SHELL is women over forty. So you might want to buy a copy for your mother.
Everything is pretty good! Busy... and tiring. :) Thanks for asking. I need a little motivation to send my children's book manuscript out to agents and I really need to stop procrastinating on other book projects. Doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. Any tips?
Well, I'm currently in the middle of a writer's block. It's about the size of the Empire State building....I can't seem to get any of my ideas down on paper. It's sad. So, are you really excited about your book or has it kind of worn off?
Thanks for being my friend and welcome to Ohio. I just had my first book published this past February. A Cop in the Sixties can be found at amazon.com as well as many other online book stores.

Ron
