Urban Lit

Urban fiction, also known as Street lit, is a literary genre set in a city landscape; however, the genre is as much defined by the race and culture of its characters as the urban setting.

About Me:
The most important thing about me is my love of history. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in history, as well as a state certification/license to teach secondary school Social Studies. I hope to return to school soon to get a Master's Degree so that I can continue on my education, research, and teaching at the higher level. Ancient Rome is my first love. If I could go back in time, I doubt I would ever want to leave. As it is, I want to go to Rome and visit the forum. I suspect when I do I will end up crying like an idiot.

I love reading. After years of reading nonfiction history books for classes, I am getting back into the swing of reading for true pleasure and it's wonderful. I have a stack of books that seems to grow taller with each book read rather than shorter. This is wonderful to me. My favorite genre is, predictably, historical fiction. I'm not much for romance as a genre, but I love books with a good love scene or two. Above all, I love books about Vampires... Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris are top notch writers.

I also love horror movies. I'll watch any horror movie once and am an avid reader of horror publications such as Fangoria, Rue Morgue and Horror Hound.

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Hi,

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans. My debut novel, Dirty Little Angels, is being released from the University of West Alabama on March 1st, and is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com. I am writing because I was hoping you might be willing to mention it on your blog (or consider it for review). I've included a summary of the novel below:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses's lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses's twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

If you'd like to read the first chapter before you commit, feel free to visit my web site:

Thanks so much,
Chris
