What made you decide to write your first novel?

I am sure many people have asked you "why did you decide to write your book?"I have been asked that very question and I surmise you have been asked that as well. Did you read something and say to yourself - I can write a better story than that - or perhaps writing a story always was a dream so you decided to try. If you can pinpoint that moment you might share it with us. I think my moment came while working in a movie theater as a projectionist. I run a public access tv station and I wanted to…See More

First Page Hook

I read a very interesting e-mail a while back. This literary agency held a contest. You submitted just the first page of your book, without your name, and they judged it on just one premise, hooked or not hooked. They explained that a publisher looks at thousands of first pages and has, more often than not, made up their mind by the end of the first page. Any thoughts on this?

Books you would like someone else to write !

How about-" Fun with Harry and Nancy" A lighthearted look at trillion dollar borrowing. Or maby -"I love to polka " Bill Clintons' unoffical memoirs. Of course we all eagerly await GWs' rewrite of "The Texas Chainsaw massacre" and who would not enjoy Sean and Rushs'-"The Wright Stuff" a gentle yet uplifting look at the Christian experiance. Have fun and remember everything is fair game-your writers after all.

Worst book to movies

For those of you who considered the best movies you have seen, made from a good book, how about those not so good movies we all suffered through that enjoyed little praise or success. One of my worst would be Starship Troopers.

Miine too...it is strange to be writing in his attic when I really first learned about writing fiction from stories like Up In Michigan or Big Two Hearted River.

Thank you John for stopping by and for your kind words.

Littluns is a book, that's like a movie, that's really a book for readers to discover and experience beyond their wildest imagination. "Littluns" is family friendly; fantasy in animation that's best for adult reading.

John, is that the movie where someone invents a substance that is repelled by wood? A great movie. Haven't seen it in a long time, but I can still picture the catcher trying to pick up the ball with his splinted hand. Thanks for the reminder.

Good point. I would guess that he gets slammed by "literary" reviewers and accused of being too sappy and romantic. But that's what most folks enjoy about his books.

John, read Love, Power, and I.C.E. and found I couldn't put it down. It's a really good read. I hope you plan on another book. Maybe a sequel to this one.
