A Cause for Sociability
Today I am inspired by North Carolina Governor, Bev Purdue, who decided to get out of the political fight so that she could focus on the fight for education in our public schools.
Today I am linking up with Create With Joy for Inspire Me Monday. This post has nothing to do with politics but I thought it was appropriate to repost now, as we enter the dog fight of the…

Part III- Mark Miller's interview with the Co-Authors of "One -Volume 5-For The Love of All"
MM: It is not surprising that you are both nature lovers, as well. You obviously have a connectedness to our world. That heightened awareness probably makes you more susceptible to the solitude of a good trail or the comfort of other creatures. Well, let’s bring this to a close. Please let our readers know what they can look forward to from you in the future.
Scott: I’m in the process of writing a collection of short stories about intimate partnerships and…

Book Giveaway & Review: All I Did Was Shoot My Man by Walter Mosley
There are some authors who rank up there among the greats, and in my mind bestselling author Walter Mosley is one of them. There’s a reason he’s won more awards than you can shake a stick at. I’ve read all of his series novels…actually I’ve devoured them to tell the truth. I can’t tell you how delighted I was to win an advance readers’ copy (ARC) of All I Did Was Shoot My Man, Mosley’s latest novel in the Leonid McGill mystery series. And I’m even…

Meany
I would echo another reader's opinion that Peazy Monellon's writing does bring to mind early Stephen King. Meany has that dark playfulness that King was so adept at. A young girl called Jenny and her cohort of brothers and sisters (mostly sisters) are growing up on a farm under the increasingly cruel rule of their dictatorial father. The place is also awash with spooks. For a first…

Writing Diary #59 - Book Series vs Book Serials
I think I'm a fairly patient person in most aspects of my life, but one thing I really can't stand is cliffhangers. I hate watching/reading works in progress and I dislike being left in the lurch by any plot. I'm the kind of person that, if a TV show has a two-parter, I'll save up both parts to watch at the same time. That doesn't mean I don't like continuing plot arcs that go through a series of books or episodes on a TV show, even through a series of movies, but when those arcs are…

Kristine’s Deadly Vices series sounds compelling, “Heroes and heroines are pitted against each other by their radically opposing life experiences. By overcoming their differences and finding common ground, they triumph over their enemies and find true happiness in each other’s arms.” I love it! And if you like romance suspense, you will, too. Visit with Kristine here:

Etiquette for Mistresses BY Julie Yap-Daza
I don't want to sound defensive about this but there is truth to the saying, "Don't judge the book by its cover" and more so, I would add, "Don’t judge the reader by the book she reads." It's not because you see me bringing a book entitled 'Etiquette for Mistresses', you have the right to raise your brows on me and give me those dagger looks. For all that has been said about this book, I was just among those who is curious about it. …

Get a Grip, Cooper Jones
Get a Grip, Cooper Jones by Sue Whiting is set in Wangaroo Bay, with the ocean on one side and the Australian bush on the other. This is a familiar setting for me as I grew up in Orbost in East Gippsland which is on the coast of Bass Strait and close to several national parks as well as bushland.
Being near to the Australian bush means the threat of bushfires is a fact of life. It is a terrifying…

Why I joined Book Blogs
Hello, authors and readers!
First I want to thank Madeline Sharples, author of "Leaving the Hall Light On," for inviting me to Book Blogs. I wrote an article about her book for The Beach Reporter, which can be found at www.tbrnews.com/articles/2011/05/13/stepping_out/step3.txt.
I'm a lifelong reader, a lover of books, and a professional writer/editor/proofreader. I work as a staff writer for The…

Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World by Bill Clinton
Truly inspiring. President Clinton outlines a diverse array of giving throughout the world. He includes people of all nations, races, ethnicities, ages and socio-economic backgrounds. While I am sure that the print version would urge one to action as well, the audio makes one want to run through a wall for someone else's benefit. I don't know what it is, he doesn't raise or overly inflate his voice, (and though polished, you can definitely tell that he is from Lil Rock)but he could…

I’m not famous!
Funny thing happened yesterday while I was working at my conventional job. A young, attractive girl happened to stumble upon my books on the internet and came up to talk to me about them. She said how much she respected someone who could do what writers are born to do and she wished she could author a book. (What I didn’t tell her about was the years of isolation and sacrifices made). Anyway, she then said something to me that struck as both humorous and poignant. She said, and I quote “Wow,…
