I have a friend who, after two decades of writing several novels, is ready to throw in the towel.
This person has published a non-fiction book in the distant past. You would think she would have some inkling of the changes in the publishing industry since then.
The reason she's failing is that she has bought into the mantra: "I need an agent. I need a major publishing…

Chapter Two part six
We were on a hillside that stood over many hillsides and trees. I looked around and all I could see was the grassy hillside. “Krista, did you know my mom’s name was Marie?” She turned to look at me, surprised. “What was she like? If you don’t mind me asking that is.”
“Hey, I’m supposed to be the one asking all the questions. It’s still my turn.”
“Fine. We’ll do that later. Let’s go.” She hopped up and went behind me up the hill. I quickly climbed and…

Chaper Two part five
It was like being hit by a rocket ship launching into space. We were in a wrap of some odd colors and finally…all I saw was space. The stars were brighter than what you could see on Earth. I looked to my left and I could see a cloud of magenta colored gases changing into different shapes. To my left there is a comet three times my size that casted off eerie colors of blue green and yellows. We were still able to breathe somehow, even though we are floating in…

Chapter Two part four
We traced our path straight to the cottage road, which looked different in clouded daylight. No one said a word, and the radio was off. It was a quiet ride down the dirt trail. A landing to the right opened up, and was littered in wood debris. Marie had said the cottage was destroyed. More like it disappeared. Miss Lynn stopped the car and got out. Marie and I mirrored her. “Okay, so we’ll leave the car here. You tell Leon what to expect. I’ll be right back.”…

Chapter Two Part Three
When I finally made it back into the apartment it was almost Two O clock in the morning. Leon was deep asleep. He looked so adorable sleeping. I wondered what he was dreaming of. My mom’s snoring kept me from wanting to sleep in the bedroom. So where was I to sleep? I spotted two blankets draping over the back of the couch. I put one over Leon, for he looked cold. The other I laid in the corner of the room and made a make shift nest. I curled up on it, like a…

Chapter Two part two
“Hey there Kitten! I didn’t know ya’ll were in town.” Yes, my father knew my nickname too, even though he died when I was very young. Mother writes him letters for me to give to him, so he doesn’t miss out on me growing up. “Hey dad. We just got here this evening. One of mom’s old buddies passed away. So she wanted to pay respect and all that. Which reminds me, he should be here. Dad you might have to help him since he’s new.”
“Okay, what’s his name? And…

Chapter Two
(Alex here, and this is Chapter Two of Falling Through. Starting with Krista's view. Enojy!)
It was as dead as the Latin language out here in the cold night. I was overcome by the urge to go see someone, but whom? Heading in an easterly direction I traveled. Then the thought struck my mind. The Cotline Cemetery was 10 miles south of here. Carefully checking for signs of those who might see, I transformed and flew off into the dark sky. It was a shame Leon couldn’t stay up.…

The games lasted for an hour or two before it was almost
midnight. I won a few rounds and lost several to Krista. Miss
Lynn was rusty and was in near constant need of help. She
never won, but her spirit was always positive. That must be a
relaxing thing when you’re older. To have the maturity to take a
few losses and not let it bother you. She must have been very
strong back then, mentally and physically. A radio from the
night stand played its heavy cords…

Chapter one part four
(Back to Krista's view, in case you can't figure it out. Dont worry, i wont change the views frequently, thats too confusing.)
As I flew high above the clouds bathing in moonlight, all I could
think about was Leon. Why was that? I never paid much
attention to boys back home because I’m scared to get
attached. Immortals shouldn’t have relationships like that. But
that doesn’t mean I can’t think about how hot one is. What was
his last name?…

Chapter one part three
So that was it. The time had come. Grandpa Reise passed away.
This woman here knows something I don’t. But right now I’m
worried about what’s going to happen to me. I’ve lived with
grandpa since I was about seven. He took me in after my
parents died. They were killed in a car accident on the way to
my first football game. A trauma like that never goes away.
Naturally I blamed myself. It was my idea to play football. How
selfish I…

Chapter One
I sat there in the cold dark watching for her. The artificial heat
kept me warm in the small car. Snow began to drift, and I tuned
the radio to a song I liked. The car was parked right in the
middle of the Cotline Hospital. My mother was inside, visiting
an old friend. She made me stay in the car like a little kid. I’m
16 for crying out loud. I think I could handle listening to her and
her old friend laughing it up about the “good ole’ days”.…

Chapter 1 (Part two)
That single word had the air in the car alive with emotion. She drove the car as fast as she
could backwards down the road. I wondered if Leon knew who
we really were and the danger we face.
“How do you know for sure Mom?”
“Krista Marie, have I ever been wrong before?”
Yeah, that’s my name. Krista Marie Lynn. I never really liked it
but it is better than some. I go by Krista or Marie.
“Well Mom there was that…
