The Self-Publishing experiment

Well, I finally took the plunge. After writing eight books over the past ten years, landing a legit agent, and coming within centimeters of getting published by a major house multiple times, I've finally decided to take matters into my own hands.

Highway to Vengeance was posted on kindle and nook, and I just purchased my proof from CreateSpace.

Now all I have to do is find a way to sell the thing. Luckily I spent a few years managing a Barnes and Noble here in Temecula, so I… Continue

Confessions of an Exercise Addict

I’m not athletic.  Ask anyone who knows me from my youth and they’ll tell you, yeah, she was more the book and theatre type.  True.

But I’m also extremely vain. I went to acting school in Los Angeles, after all.  I won’t even start in about the permanent damage done to my psyche from attending college with the beautiful people when you’re one of the average people.

I’m also short.  My mother says if I were a car, I’d be the fuel-efficient model, meaning it takes few calories…

Finding Your Niche in Marketing Your Book

“…an especially suitable place or position…” that’s one way Webster’s defines the word niche.  Do you know the most suitable place or position where your writing and specific books fit?  If you don’t know that yet, and if you want to be successful in marketing your work, you need to figure out your niche.  The complicated part starts now because you have to leave your preconceptions behind and take a look at your work with fresh eyes.  When you started writing your book, you may have…

Happy Birthday Dear Friend

Tomorrow is the birthday of a dear friend of mine who lost her battle with cancer several years ago. Julie was my boss when I worked at RealNetworks, over twelve years ago.  When we worked together she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She had surgery, radiation and chemo and never missed one day of work.  Can you imagine how tough you have to be to do that?  When I was told by the head of the department that Julie was coming to be my new boss, she said, "Don't worry you'll love her.  She's…

Worldwide eRelease of The Haunting of Drang Island

Cover of Drang

Today is the official re-release of my second novel The Haunting of Drang Island. All three books in the Northern Frights series have been out of print for several years now, so I'm glad to see the second book in the series rise like...uh...like a giant serpent out of the water. It's the story of a teen going on a holiday on Drang Island (near… Continue

Review: Across the Veil By Lisa Kessler

Even thought this book was a fast read, it is nothing short of brilliant. The plot was very original, pace was good, Characters and world both well developed. The twist were what kept me hanging on I NEEDED to find out what was happening. Overall it was a blast to read. I would definitely refer friends, and anyone else to read this book.

Personal Part 1

I got to thinking the other day about ereaders. because I live on a limited income and I've been watching this one blog I've been following, talk about how good they are, how their getting so popular. I realized that having one isn't a bad idea but, don't have the money right now to buy one. So, my goal is to try and save up some to see what the hubbub is all about.

I've been happy to see that my blog is getting more views. I've had some good comments. I've been very lucky. I…

Laurie Bowler The Depths of Darkness

Vampires anyone? Laurie Bowler has taken the genre to a whole new level with her body of work. She is definitely a busy gal with her newest full length novel, The Depths of Darkness. She also has her new series Across the City which has three installments in publication already: The Beginning, The Battle Begins, and Carnage with a fourth on the way, The Alliance. Laurie will be my guest in The G-ZONE next week April 5th @ 8.30am EST to discuss all that and much, much, much more.…
