Inspirational Reading - the Story of Randy Pausch

I recently finished reading "The Last Lecture" - an amazing story of courage, dreaming and achieving your goals, perseverance, and just....living.

The story was that of Randy Pausch - quite a few readers may recognize the name, as he gained fame and notoriety after the academic…

With the Tide A novel by Mary Bright Carr

When I write a review about about a book I normally start by telling the, would be reader what the book is about. Then I state my opinion on the book and whether or not I would recommend it as a worth while read.

For this book, I have to break that format because frankly after reading this 217 page book I have no Idea what it is about. I was lost from page one on! This book is a list of sentences that have nothing to do with one another. I give this book a 1 out of 10 and I hope that this… Continue

Do You Ever Feel This?

If I could just get over my reading funk, I'll be alright. Right now, reading is like running uphill while pushing a boulder. Still doing it, but it feels like a chore. Do you even get those days?

Lost – Not the TV show

What an interesting week I had this week. I started the week of with losing a material thing and ended the week losing a person – I think, maybe, probably, I’m not 100% sure but it seems like it (although I hope not). Ironically enough losing the person made all the material loss so incredibly unimportant which really made me realize how little material things really mean.

Intergalactic Detective Da'Quan's trip to

the Festival of Life on the planet Lazon was suddenly interrupted when

he received word that his friend and longtime partner had been

attacked after a unusual murder aboard The Eros Star. The one of a

kind luxury ship is the traveling hot spot where the powerful and

Balancing reading and writing in a four day weekend

It's the last day of a four day weekend and I feel the opportunity cost weighing down upon me. Must finish the book I'm reading! Must go to a movie! Must write 1500 words!

Just finished two books - one about a mother-daughter relationship, one about a father-son one. Interesting comparison. Read more.…

Saying Thanks at Memorial Day

Last year I was at a family event and began to search the crowd. I soon realized with family and extended family more than fifty young people between the ages of eighteen

and thirty were represented. Only one, my son, a Marine, who at the

time was deployed to Afghanistan, was serving or had served…

Gentle Hold - a tribute to my Dad

All those years of scouring the shops wondering what to buy, would it be

another jumper, perhaps a CD or a book. Whatever it was, a box of

Bassets Liquorice Allsorts always accompanied it. You were hugely

grateful for those, something you would put on your table by your chair,

next to the remote control and packet of Dunhill International. I

guess I since realised that the sweets were all you needed, a bonus next

to the hug you appreciated so much more. I can still… Continue

Review for "Never Without Hope" by Michelle Sutton

Do you like Edgy Christian Fiction? The kind that takes you “there” but in a discreet manner? I wasn’t sure if I would like this book or not but decided to give it a try and let me tell you that I absolutely LOVED it! Michelle has written a wonderful story that incorporates temptation, forbidden love, consequences and most of all God’s unfailing love.

Hope meets Tony…

A Touching Story

With Memorial Day approaching I wanted to share this touching story with you. It brought tears to my eyes.

MAY GOD BLESS THIS AIRLINE CAPTAIN:

He writes: My lead flight attendant came to me and said, "We have an H.R. on this flight." (H.R. stands for human remains.) "Are they military?" I asked.

'Yes', she said.

'Is there an escort?' I asked.

'Yes, I already assigned him a seat'.

'Would you please tell him to come to the flight… Continue

Library TBR pile

We readers, of course, are forever adding books to our TBR pile. I was thinking recently of how most of us seem to have several of those around and, in my own case, the most important TBR pile is the one composed of the books I have checked out from the library. Nothing like a deadline to put a book on the top of the heap! And those books might not necessarily represent what we actually want to be reading at any given point. I get library books because they're free, unlike buying them. And I… Continue

KINDLE ME THIS

Everything I hear about Kindle seems to be a one-way street. This $359 gadget will replace books. I know I won't be able to afford one until the price comes way down. I'm the type who loses cell phones and digital cameras.

What I'm not hearing is what is most important to me as a writer. For the first time I can conceptualize, execute and publish my work any way I choose. I don't have to pay anyone and Amazon assures me I will get…

Do you know yourself?

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

Aristotle

How many of us can say we really know ourselves? Honestly, and embracing all who we are? It can be hard to embrace your true self. People are messy and we all make mistakes and who the hell wants to admit making mistakes. I know if I ever made any I wouldn’t want to admit it (kidding). I know there is a saying that youth is often wasted on the young and the older I get the more I agree. By the time I really know…

Great text book site I stumbled accross

Go Snuffy Blog
Hey everyone! Last week I stumbled upon the best text book site ever. I could post my book for free and sell it directly to a fellow student on my campus. No middle man was needed and also no shipping costs. Also NO costs charged by the website, www.gosnuffy.com/index.cfm?sellBooks, So I hope everyone will go snuffy so that I can get all the books I need from there for next semester.
