My Favorite.

I ran out of new books to read a couple of weeks ago, and when that happens I tend to turn back to books I've already read that I loved and want to revisit. So I did.

My favorite book is The Time Traveler's Wife. …

Eat, Pray, Love Favorite Quotes

I decided to take a look back at the Eat, Pray, Love and pull from it my favorite parts. This has become a very important book for me in terms of a place to go to for advice, an inspiration to live the way you want and to figure out how to do what you love. I've read and re-read it a couple of times now and it never ceases to amaze me (and make me a little jealous) of the year Elizabeth Gilbert had during the writing of… Continue

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After by Steve Hockensmith

I'm ashamed to admit that I first became intrigued with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Graham-Smith because of its phenomenal success on the best seller lists. Call it an aversion to adolescent days when I craved to know the hottest songs, stars, and styles. Whatever the reason, as an adult, I normally avoid trends. Yet when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hit the radar, I felt curious about that whole mash-up combination. Now being immersed in the trilogy, I feel proud and hip to…

I Was Born in a Library

I was born in a library.

Not really.  But I could've been.

Books prominently populate my earliest memories.  Lots and lots of books.  Enough to fill several library several times.

I remember snuggling into Dad's lap as he read aloud about a brown monkey and a man in a yellow hat. Mom reading and re-reading a perennial favorite, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel.  Also stories about a runaway bunny. Ferdinand the bull.  Green…

Tom Sumner All I Wanted Was A Haircut #4

I am a fan of Tom’s work. I enjoy his take on things and his ability to present them. I think that when someone is trying to be funny, face to face or in a group setting where eye contact can be made or body language can be seen is one thing. The humor is then three dimensional, or if you subscribe to Big Daddy Abel’s thoughts four dimensions, go figure, but who am I to argue. Back to my point, Tom Sumner has a way with words and can execute the punch lines in writing. He hammers home his…

Samantha Weiler Beyond The Garden Gate

Welcome to the weekend everybody. Today I am popping in two posts on two totally different types of digital short stories. Later on I will drop one in on Humorist Tom Sumner and his series, “All I Wanted Was a Haircut” .  Lets get to Samantha Weiler’s digital short story. She is a Summer Submission Contest Winner with Trestle Press. Personally I enjoyed this story immensely; it has a nice edge to it that I think if you get to download it you will…

Steve Hamilton Misery Bay

I wanted to end the week with a bang and I chose this novel to start it off.

Let’s get rolling on” Misery Bay”! Here is the synopsis:

“On a frozen January night, a young man loops one end of a long rope over the branch of a tree. The other end he ties around his neck. A snowmobiler will find him 36 hours later, his lifeless eyes staring out at the endless cold water of Lake Superior. It happens in a lonely corner of the Upper Peninsula, in a place they call…
