Blog - Land Run

New to Book Blogs. Still finding my way around. Don't know what to say for a first post exactly. Having a great time finishing up my latest (untitled) novel set in Ukraine.  And having fun with the promotion aspect of LAND RUN.  I had an agent for Land Run for 6 months. Then a publisher and all that comes with that. Land Run has ben out for only 4 months and already great fun!  It is considered a 'crossover' novel mainly because it does not fit into the mold of 'Christian Fiction'. Niether…

Psychology can be loosely understood as the study of how thoughts interfere in people’s behavior. So here’s a bit of psychology for you.

The thoughts that cause people most problems are those related with survival and safety. In fact, we will attach ourselves to even the most negative thoughts if we believe they are needed for…

Clone Zone Cody Toye The Author's Lab/Collaboration series

Cody Toye has a way with fantasy/paranormal/ sci-fi/horror. He has done it with his series “Intangibles” and he brings those skills to bear here in “Clone Zone”. The digital short story is quick, furious, and rampaging. This is the 24th installment in The Author’s Lab/Collaborations series and it is a barnburner. Surprisingly the cast of characters is small yet many, basically because they all look like the same person. This story is under consideration to become its own…

Book Giveaway and Review for The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta

Ever since I saw the book cover last summer for The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta, I’ve been dying to get my hands on a copy. I was thrilled to win this novel in the Back to the Books Giveaway Hop earlier this month. Now I can pay it forward by providing a giveaway of my own so one lucky reader can win this novel!

When all of the media hype was circulating about some preacher predicting a specific date for the Rapture a while back, some of my Facebook friends and I were joking…

QR Codes: Get Yours Now to Market Yourself and Your Work!

Quick Response Codes! I think they are also called 'Semapedia Tags'.  They are those two-dimensional, square bar codes, with lots of tiny boxes, that can be read by most smart phones.  You put them on physical things, like business cards, posters, t-shirts, books, stickers (to stick on things!), billboards, etc.

The smart phone user scans the code and POOF!!! There are a number of things that can happen!  They can…

Regarding Gelati

No, it's not a delicious frozen treat for when you settle in with a good book.

I'm talking about Giovanni Gelati. Maybe you've heard of him? Trestle Press front man, anchor of the Author's Lab collaboration series, social media and internet marketing whiz. I wrote "A Prince in Trenton, Seriously?" with the guy. Yeah, that's him.

He has… Continue

Andrew Smith Guest Post

I grew up among bombed buildings and hearing stories from my parents about the difficultes of air raids, so it was little wonder I’d always wanted to write a novel with World War II as its theme. When I found out about the shameful and extraordinarily cruel internment of Italian men in 1940, I knew I had an amazing event around which to build a story. Internment of Italians happened in Britain, where I set the novel, but it also happened in the United States — California recently apologized…

Mallory Petersen and Company

Beta book trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn_mDGLOPe8

Back in 1988, when I worked for radio station WKEI/WJRE in the self proclaimed “Hog Capital of the World” town of Kewanee, Illinois, one of my fellow broadcasters was named Gary Petersen. He was the first person I knew who spelled the surname with EN rather than ON. When I created my private investigator/martial artist, I gave a slight nod of admiration to Gary by… Continue

The Walk

This is an amazing book! This is one that all people interested in enhancing their spiritual walk with God should put right on their list of books to read. If you aren't familiar with Shaun Alexander, he is one guy you should get to know. If your a football fan, you may know his name as a former running-back for the Seattle Seahawks. This book was a quick read, with only 214 pages.

Shaun takes his readers on a journey, where there is primarily one purpose, which is…

Who Said the Life of an Art Collector Had to Be Dull?

Paloma Zubiondo is safe and secure in the world she has designed for herself. Paloma's life in her beach-front home in Laguna Beach, California is well-ordered and full of discipline, while her rooms are decorated with rare artistic treasures (of the Spanish Colonial variety) and books, a collection she has been working to build for years. For this wealthy widow and aficionado of fine art, everything is in its right place. Then, one day the telephone rings, and everything changes...
