Angela Merkel, wearing a low-cut dress, sings a song of praise to the euro. In Germany they’re starting to talk about ‘Brustwarzen Gate’ (Nipple Gate).



President Alexander Lukashenko, who made his name with the quote ‘Better a dictator than gay’, sings a folksy song entitled: ‘Man of the People’.



Elio Di Rupo, the Belgian PM, is dressed in nothing but a giant bow tie and, to the delight of the gays in the audience, sings an aria in falsetto about the fantastic town…

Engelbert Humperdinck by Arnold Jansen op de Haar

I know two people whose first name is Engelbert – well, one I really know and the other I know from TV. One is a former colleague from my time in the army, and although he is nearly seven feet tall, his name is not so heroic.



Engelbert is more suitable for a singer: to be precise, Engelbert Humperdinck, born 1936, but not for a secret agent: ‘Humperdinck... Engelbert Humperdinck’.
