Divergent by Veronica Roth

The hunger games hangover was my diagnosis.Recommended cure? Divergent. Did the cure work? You bet it did! I actually preferred this book over the hunger games. I fell in love with every single character in this book and Veronica Roth's writing is amazing. I could picture everything she was describing and I applaud her for her imagination. I can not get over how she came up with all the factions and the different characters. Every twist and turn had me screaming at this poor book and I was…

Hunger Games Trilogy

Is everyone as fascinated with the Hunger Games as I am?  The movie is alright, but the books are phenominal, putting you yourself into the main charachters shoes.  The story is not so unrealistic as people would like to believe.  We dont know what is going to happen in this world, and it is very possible that another Civil War could happen, and our country would cease to be what it has become.  Kids would no longer know what Ipods are and television would only occasionaly be able to work. …

Five mini-reviews of YA books

I haven’t written a review for any of the books I’ve read since last November so I decided to do a quick catch-up entry. I’ve been on a role with my reading, thankfully, so now the “unfinished” side has changed from the lack chapters read to the incomplete reviews I’ve written. l need to write my reviews in a more timely manner, otherwise I forget that my initial reactions were.…

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

I really wanted to love Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. After all, I had raced through the first two books in The Hunger Games trilogy both times that I read them. When news of the third book hit the web, I didn't even wait for its arrival at my local library but instead bought the boxed trilogy at a local bookstore. Yet despite winning me over by the end, this book is the weakest link.…

Book Review: Catching Fire by Suzzane Collins

This is long.

If you have the patience, read on.

If you're a fan, you will enjoy this.

If you have not read the book yet, forego reading this review unless you really want to know where the smoke comes from.

There are SPOILERS so don't say I did not warn you.

Catching Fire immediately started where The Hunger Games ended. In this second installment, Katniss and Peeta struggle to survive the post Hunger Games trauma. Both continue to promote… Continue

Skin Hunger by Kathleen Duey

This story follows the lives of two individuals: Sadima and Haph. Sadima’s story takes place in the ‘past’, a time when true magic was dormant, and people were wary of it. Sadima’s magic allows her to commune with animals, getting glimpses into their world, and she sometimes secretly helps those creatures who are suffering under the hands of humans. True magic was not widely practiced, and the world was rampant with fake wizards and sorcerers claiming to know the secrets of magic when all they… Continue
