As much as I love my Kindle Fire, I've been getting more and more books from the library lately. This, of course, is a good thing because not only do I save money, help circulation numbers for my local library system but I discover books that I've heard of but…

Five mini-reviews of YA books

I haven’t written a review for any of the books I’ve read since last November so I decided to do a quick catch-up entry. I’ve been on a role with my reading, thankfully, so now the “unfinished” side has changed from the lack chapters read to the incomplete reviews I’ve written. l need to write my reviews in a more timely manner, otherwise I forget that my initial reactions were.…

My Father's Love Letters

My father’s love letters to my mother show that, although Whisper My Secret is a heart wrenching story of loss and separation, it is also a story of romance and enduring love. When my mother, Myrtle Webb, was forced to give up her first three children, she walked into the arms of a man whose passion and love for her endured through time, through poverty, hardship and illness.

I’ll let my father speak for himself through…

SECRET GOOD DEEDS

Someone once asked me why was I always so confident. They asked in the sort of way that means “Who are you—or, who do you think you are—to be this confident?” And as I always use every encounter, friendly –or unfriendly-- to learn, I pondered this awhile. What makes me so…

My work as an interpreter (Swedish/Spanish/English) sometimes takes… Continue
