I won Paranormalcy by Kiersten White in a recent Giveaway Hop and am delighted to pay it forward by hosting a giveaway for it. But first things first – oh yeah, the review. This is Book #1 in the Paranormalcy Trilogy and I couldn’t be happier that it’s a series. This YA paranormal fantasy series features one of the funniest, most loveable, kick-butt heroines I’ve come across in a long time. It’s easy to see how this novel made the New York Times…

When Amanda Hocking self-published Switched, Book #1 of the Trylle Trilogy, I doubt she could have predicted that it would sell over a million copies and become a word-of-mouth sensation. What a pipe dream that must have seemed. I was one of the people who stumbled onto this series and got hooked very quickly, and then spread the word.
When I learned St. Martin’s Press was going to publish the series, I knew I wanted to score a copy of…

When I saw The Demi-Monde: Winter being publicized as a winter release, I had no idea what it was about but the title kept capturing my eye. Little did I know what a treat I had in store for me. The Demi-Monde: Winter by Rod Rees is Book #1 in the Demi-Monde Saga series.…

I was in the mood for some fun paranormal reading, so when I had the opportunity to snag a digital advance reader’s copy of Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, I went for it. I hadn’t read any of her other work so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after reading this stand-alone novel, I’m definitely a fan. Although this is a young adult novel, I think it will appeal to paranormal fantasy fans of all ages. Read the rest of my review at…

I had been seeing the book cover for Cinder for several weeks before I was able to snag a digital advance readers copy. You know I love a good book cover and this one was very intriguing. Marissa Meyer’s Cinder is Book #1 in her new Lunar Chronicles series and it’s one of the most original takes on a fairy tale that I’ve seen. Although it’s a young adult novel, this one is going to appeal to science fiction fans of all…

I won a copy of The Witch of Hebron: A World Made by Hand Novel by James Howard Kunstler in a giveaway and am delighted to pass it along to one lucky reader. Although this is Book #2 in the World Made by Hand series, I have not read the first book and found Book #2 worked very well as a stand-alone novel. With everything going on in the world these days, I would think a novel about coming of age in a post-oil society would appeal to just about…

When I read the publisher’s brief description of Saving June by Hannah Harrington, I knew it would be a good book to review if the subject matter was handled well. Teen suicide is something nobody wants to talk about but it’s something that touches far too many families. Hannah Harrington has found a way to deal with this subject in a very touching but also very entertaining novel. If you know someone who committed suicide then you should read this novel. If you’re…

I kept seeing chatter on Twitter about Prized by Caragh M. O’Brien that made it sound very interesting, so I kept an eye out for it. When I got the chance to review it, I pounced. *cue the evil laugh* I didn’t realize at the time that it was the 2nd book in The Birthmarked Trilogy. As it turns out, Prized stands alone very well so that didn’t matter. The 1st book, Birthmarked, is very inexpensive, and…

When Ron Vitale approached me about reading and possibly reviewing Cinderella’s Secret Diary: Lost, I was intrigued by the concept. This is the first book in this new series. Being an extremely curious person, I’ve always wanted to know what happens after fairy tales end. “Happily ever after” has a nice ring to it but what really happens? Although this novel works well as a YA fantasy, it is also going to be very appealing to older readers who always wondered about…

I don’t recall how I learned about Sophie & Carter by Chelsea Fine, only that something about the synopsis for this story caught my eye and touched my heart. I do know that I contacted the publisher and asked to review it, and (with fingers crossed) asked if they would sponsor a book giveaway. Not only has the publisher provided a novel but it’s an autographed copy, which is so cool!
You know I don’t traditionally review romance novels, unless there’s…

I was delighted when I won a copy of The Fox Inheritance, Book #2 in bestselling author Mary E. Pearson’s futuristic YA series The Jenna Fox Chronicles. I had read excellent things about this series and wanted to check it out. I was a bit apprehensive since I hadn’t read Book #1 but The Fox Inheritance works well as a stand-alone novel. This is an excellent YA novel! Adults will like this as much as teens do. I’m looking…

From the book cover art for Deviant by Adrian McKinty, I thought this was a young adult fantasy or science fiction novel. Instead it’s a YA mystery/thriller. After reading the novel, the cover made much more sense to me. Deviant is a story that I think younger teen boys can relate to in many ways; however, they may not enjoy reading about animal sacrifice any more than I did. Read the rest of my review at…

When I read the publisher’s promo for C.J. Hill’s new young adult novel, Slayers, it sounded like a welcome departure from most fantasy novels. Slayers is a novel that’s sure to appeal to people of all ages, and I hope a major film studio jumps on the movie rights because it would make a very cool film! I’d be first in line to see it! Read the rest of my review at…
