Weigh-in results

Good morning!

I have exciting news to report about my weigh-in this morning. First, let me back up a bit… In March, I joined a Facebook’s Biggest Loser challenge, which started on April 1st. I submitted my starting weight on March 28th. Today was our first weigh-in (weigh-ins will be every Monday). Since submitting my starting weight (11 days ago), I have lost 3.6 lbs! I’m ecstatic. The four weeks prior, I had only lost 3 lbs. So losing 3.6 lbs in a week and a half is a huge…

Progress is what's important

It’s time for an update. I’m excited to write this post, mostly because I’m in the mood to write, but also because I’m happy to share my accomplishments in my health.

I mentioned in my last post that I wasn’t losing any weight. And that was true. Since October 11th (almost 3 months), I hadn’t lost any weight and actually gained one pound from all the strength training I’ve been doing. BUT, I have GREAT news! I weighed in yesterday for a weight loss challenge group I’m in and the scale…

A Change in My Health Program

On October 31st, I weighed in for the first time in three weeks. Normally I weigh in once a month. But I signed up for a Facebook weight loss challenge and decided to weigh in on the dates of the challenge. When I weighed in on October 31st, I was exactly the same as three weeks before! That told me I was maintaining my weight and not losing any more weight. Because I’m still considered obese, maintaining my weight scared me. How can I be obese and following a healthy diet and not lose…

New Update!

It’s time for an update! I don’t even know where to begin because so much has happened. In my last update (about one month ago) I was hoping I would start exercising again. Well, I am pleased to announce that I have! On October 31st, I joined a weight loss challenge and did my first workout. Since then, I have worked out every day except for two days. In addition to the challenge, I joined a Facebook group for losing weight, and I’ve been reading posts of Facebook pages of people who are…

The Mystery of the Blue Train

To my great relief, The Murder on the Blue Train features a third-person omnipresent style. Captain Hastings is only mentioned in this novel once. Instead, Poirot has a part-time sidekick in the very practical Katherine Grey. The have such an easy relationship…

Writing frantically while trying to keep my sanity.

For years I grumbled about not being published, how disappointed I was with all the rejections I received (and there were hundreds), how much I wanted a chance to show what I could do.

Well, my friends, I think that day has arrived. I am late with a submission to an agent, and writing my fingers off, and frying my brain in order to complete a contracted book.

All I can say is this: Watch what you wish for. You might just get it.

Not to say I'm not happy with all of this…

The Color of Water

I read the most interesting NYT article yesterday. The piece focused on Ruth McBride Jordan who was the subject of "The Color of Water" a book written by her son, James McBride. Ms. Jordan transitioned on January 9th. (My sympathies to the family)

I have not yet had the pleasure of reading… Continue

REVIEW: The Family Bones by Kimberly Raiser

I received this book over the holidays directly from the author. First, thanks to Kimberly for sending the book my way!

Before I had a chance to pick up the book (yes, I actually finished another book first) my husband picked it up because the cover and title intrigued him. (Note: my hubby doesn't spend his spare time reading..) He picked it up with the intention of reading a few pages, and wound up reading it cover to cover over an… Continue

My first challenge.

I have been "book blogging" for 14 months, but I have never participate in a challenge. I usually am not the "joining" sort of person - trying to change that.

I am going to do the Austen challenge http://blbooks.blogspot.com/2007/09/two-mini-challenges.html.

I am starting off with Pride and Prejudice (reading it).
