Hi everyone. Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans? If the hiking boots I ordered arrive, I’ll be going hiking, probably on Sunday. I’ll probably be power-walking on Saturday, because the weather has just been so nice and I’ve been really enjoying my power-walks. I reached my goal of a 15-minute mile! My usual walk is 1.9 miles. I’m thinking of taking the long route back home, instead of taking a side street, to make it two miles. At least I think it will be two miles; I’ll have to…

Hi everyone,
My healthy lifestyle has been going great lately. Two weigh-ins ago, which was on the 15th, I lost 2.4 lbs in one week! I was very pleased. During my last weigh-in, which was yesterday, I stayed exactly the same. I’m not ecstatic, obviously, but I’m okay with it. I’m happy to either maintain my weight or lose weight on my weight loss journey. If I have no gains, I’m happy.
At home, I’ve added steel cut oats, couscous, and whole grain rice to my diet. I eat them in…

Good morning!
I have exciting news to report about my weigh-in this morning. First, let me back up a bit… In March, I joined a Facebook’s Biggest Loser challenge, which started on April 1st. I submitted my starting weight on March 28th. Today was our first weigh-in (weigh-ins will be every Monday). Since submitting my starting weight (11 days ago), I have lost 3.6 lbs! I’m ecstatic. The four weeks prior, I had only lost 3 lbs. So losing 3.6 lbs in a week and a half is a huge…

Hello, everyone!
I just wanted to check in, because it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been going to physical therapy one day a week, every week. My last appointment (yesterday) showed great progress. I’ve been practicing lunges and squats, using the bosu ball, trampoline, and balance boards, and my physical therapist said I looked really good, that my form was good and it looked like I did the exercises with ease. That was great to hear! I’ve noticed that I’m better at…

I’ve made great progress with physical therapy and I’ve only been doing it for a couple of weeks. I have less knee pain in general, I’m able to crouch down to the floor, I can sit cross-legged without much discomfort, I can kneel on the floor and sit back on my feet without much tightness in my knees, and I can tell my legs are getting stronger from observing my ability level with the PT exercises. It feels great to be more flexible and stronger!
I’ve been taught new exercises and…

My knees are still bad, so I’m hanging in here doing moderate workouts until my knees can handle more exertion. At least I haven’t given up on exercise all together because of the pain. It hurts a little to bend my knees, sit down, stand up, and go up and down stairs. Since recovering from my injury, I’ve had discomfort doing those things (and pain at first), but it was getting better, and my knees felt best when I wasn’t exercising to be honest. But I believe not exercising is not the…

Hi everyone,
I hope you enjoyed the book reviews I posted recently and that some of you will decide to read those books, because they are helpful and informative.
I felt compelled to write a quick update on how my health is. I took Thursday as a rest day, so I made it ten days straight of working out. I didn’t beat my record (I tied it), but I do get pretty sore after working out that many days in a row. Friday, I needed to clean the house and I spent a great deal of time doing…

Hello everyone,
You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been posting mostly reviews and interviews for the past couple of months. And you are right. Since mid-October I haven’t posted about my books, namely my works-in-progress. Back in early September, I pretty much stopped writing in my works-in-progress due to publishing one of them (Freelance Writing Guide) and having a blog tour. I have no regrets, of course, because I was ecstatic about publishing a book I had been working on…

It’s time for an update. I’m excited to write this post, mostly because I’m in the mood to write, but also because I’m happy to share my accomplishments in my health.
I mentioned in my last post that I wasn’t losing any weight. And that was true. Since October 11th (almost 3 months), I hadn’t lost any weight and actually gained one pound from all the strength training I’ve been doing. BUT, I have GREAT news! I weighed in yesterday for a weight loss challenge group I’m in and the scale…

Book Review By Cathy – The Crazy Bookworm “There’s a Fine Line”
This book is a memoir unfortunately what this woman had to endure is not a work of fiction. How do you review someones real life? The author of this book is brave, having to relive these horrific memories to tell us her story. The stories told in this book are unbelievable, to think that someone can be so heartless, so manipulative. ‘Teresa’ had to deal with the devil himself. ‘There’s a fine line’ will take you down a dark road, a road that no one should ever have to travel. The author…

I truly feel great. Working out is becoming an addiction. It’s at least a part of my daily life. I never thought I would be one of those people that enjoyed working out, getting sweaty, getting my heart rate up, and having muscle strain, but I do. And you know what it’s from? Working out every day! On October 31st, I began working out regularly again. I started with 7 minute workouts and using 5 lb dumbbells, most days of the week. On November 14th, I began working out at least 6 days in a…

How do you forgive your abuser?
It’s a question that I have asked myself many times over, it’s also the one I struggled with the most on my journey towards recovery. It’s also a question that I have been asked on a number of occasions, from the people I have come into contact with throughout my work. The last thing I guess anyone would expect to hear is that forgiveness is even possible – So how do we achieve that? In earnest the only possible way forward, is by striping everything back to a point where you are forced to…
